PattayaMale Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 I have received some inquires about Allen Briggs AKA GayPattayan. Allen asked me to let people know that he is currently in Bumrungrad Hospital seeking treatment for Cancer which has returned. He decided to go to Bumrungrad when another local well known Pattaya hospital was giving him conflicting advice about his cancer. Allen currently is facing several medical problems at the same time. He wants people to know that he is not able to return emails or phone calls. Quote
Gaybutton Posted June 4, 2009 Posted June 4, 2009 Thank you for letting us know. I'm sure we all hope he will pull through. Please keep us informed if you can. Quote
Bob Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 PM, I'm hopeful you can pass along to Allen all of our best wishes for him. Quote
Guest HeyGay Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 Allen is a wonderful man, I have had a lot to do with him in the past, I do hope he gets some good news soon, I'm sure we are all praying for him, to what ever God you believe in, I personally believe God is Love . Quote
Guest alaan Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I too wish Allen all the best, the information and advice he offered when i first started to come to Thailand was invaluable. But, HayGay, i certainly wouldn't trust in God to help Allen..... why did 'God' allow him to have cancer in the first place? as well as his previous ill health.... As he did the last time he was ill, Allen will hopefully pull through because of his own determination and the care and skill of medical staff. Praying to 'God' is irrelevant and pointless. It is better to push all your praying energy into strenghthening your will to live and not rely on some fictitious nonsense. Quote
PattayaMale Posted June 5, 2009 Author Posted June 5, 2009 I drove to Bangkok today to take another friend to Bumrungrad for Gall Bladder surgery. While there I stopped by Allen's room to get an update. I told him that several people were wishing him the best....which brought him to tears. He said he is so use to being around and knowing what is going on in town and now he feels a bit useless. I promised him what he gets well we will invite friends for drinks some where which cheered him up. He is very, very happy with his treatment at Bumrungrad. He actually is hopeful. They are being very through and have assigned different specialist for the different conditions and one doctor to coordinate things. I don't know any of the results from the tests yet but I will share what I learn. One thing I did not know until I helped him with the insurance is that Allen is 78 1/2 years old. His weight has come down from 120 kilo to 71 kilo (a bit too fast), but a weight he would like to have had long ago. There is no date for his release yet. The nurse said maybe June 8. I told Allen that is the day before Funny Boy's anniversary. He said, "Let's go" with a smile so his spirits are good. Quote

It is better to push all your praying energy into strenghthening your will to live and not rely on some fictitious nonsense. I say Trust in the God you believe in, because if there was not a God created by the Monks of the past, they would have to create one, as some people need a crutch to hold onto and give them self confidence, not every one is like us and able to be strong with out any help from inside, that’s why I have been lucky, people I love I show them I love them and ask nothing in return, they always respond in a positive way, to people who I think have had a rough ride in life, but have a lot going for them, I show them I can love them also and to the rest I just tell them in the nicest possible way, go and bother some one else, tough love, avoid negative people like the plague, they will always bring you down. He is very, very happy with his treatment at Bumrungrad..... You could not put some one in a better Hospital in the world, a good friend of mine a Consultant Doctor in one of the UKs biggest Private Hospitals, found himself in the Bangkok and Pattaya Hospital, he was horrified with the treatment he was seeing, and made them take him to the Bumrungrad and is now back on his feet and so happy he changed Hospitals, for various reasons I wont go into here. Its obvious you have been reading the Book that has been sweeping the world knocking all the fake stories in the Bible out and replacing them with the truth, as spoken about before, I'm sure, "Gods Delusion" by Professor Richard Dawkins, it will prove to you as it has 5 million who have read it so far, the first chapter alone sold out in weeks 1.5 million, that the Bible is all a fantasy of fiction writen by Monks of the day, But owing to the billions $$$ generated by religion, no one is going to stop preaching the gospel in any religion, I’m sure. No matter what proof is put forward. As I said, so many people need a God to believe in. But to many make to much out of God to stop. http://www.guardian.co.uk/books/2006/sep/23/richarddawkins Quote
Guest ButterballBruce Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 I pray to Buddha that Allen will get well soon. 50 kg is a huge weight loss. Was he on The Biggest Loser? Is there a Pattaya version that I can get on? Quote
Guest xiandarkthorne Posted June 5, 2009 Posted June 5, 2009 My best wishes to Allen for a speedy recovery, too. I think it's men like him that have made Thailand a better place to live. Xian Quote

His treatments continue and he is more or less homebound for the time being. Ken's "Little Mango" restaurant re-opened tonight. Ken told me that in the near future he will be be opened for breakfast. If you are in the area - stop by and give Ken a shout out and have a bite to eat. Quote
Guest xiandarkthorne Posted June 20, 2009 Posted June 20, 2009 I am so glad there's been good news about Allen. He's always been one of those on my 'people I must meet when I come to Pattaya' list. Great to know he'll be around when I finally get to come. Xian Quote
