Nice find GB!

One page has some discount coupons though you'll need a printer to use them:

http://www.suneeplaza.info/cgi-bin/page.pl?p=coupons

Also see on the website there is now a cover charge to sit in the mezanine at Happy Boys.

Think this will lead to a loss of revenue for them:

"Happy boys have started charging 150B to use their upper room. Whether it's worth it is for you to decide."

Don't thank me. Thank Oogleman. As far as I know, he's the first to discover this web site and post about it. I had no idea of its existence until I saw Oogleman's post.

I had heard that Happy Boys is now charging that 150 baht fee, but this is the first confirmation I've seen. I haven't been there myself in a couple months, so I had no first-hand knowledge.

I have mixed feelings about that fee. However, I do think it's fair and reasonable if, and only if, that fee or at least the major portion of it goes to the boys. It is well known that the goings-on on the upper level can get quite hot and heavy. Often, the farang customer gets away with giving the boy(s) paying attention to him a very small tip. Sometimes the boys don't get any tip at all. Also, since many customers get "satisfaction," that means the boy loses being taken off and loses the potential for a much larger tip and it also means the bar loses money they could be making with off fees.

I doubt that anybody likes the idea of having to fork out 150 baht to sit upstairs, but considering the price of the drinks and what goes on up there, I don't think it's unfair for the bar to charge for it and I don't think it's an unreasonable amount.

I know you are not naive enough to think that the boys will see any of that money from the bar owners.

I went for the first time last week and was charged 150 baht when I went upstairs with a boy. The manager went racing up the stairs to tell me there was a 150 baht charge just as I got seated. I said that was fine because I was curious as to what went on upstairs. Let's just say I had a good time and I was not cheap with the tip. I, too, would be much happier with the charge if I knew the boys got some of it. I didn't think to ask.

I believe they will loose some business now. I mostly pay for drinks around 2000 baht + 1800 baht for 3 times fun. May be next time i sit down and take one drink and will take off one or two boys very quickly >> will have cheap evening

The website looks pretty informative. However, I am curious about one thing. The hotels linked there seem to be more expensive than those in Hatyai where I pay Baht900 per night for a room, and the Diamond Plaza where I usually stay is classified as 4-stars.

In BKK, I stay at the Suriwong Hotel, which isn't exactly in the same category but it is clean, I get air-conditioning, en suite bathroom and a nice big bed (with a big mirror over the headboard for me to watch myself and/or my date yet). For this little love nest, I usually fork out about 800 Baht.

I thought accommodation was a lot cheaper in Pattaya?

The star ratings are frequently assigned by the owner, and should not be considered as reliable..

For example, the Don Plaza website linked to the Sunee Plaza site http://www.suneeplaza.info/cgi-bin/page.pl...20Plaza%20Hotel shows five stars with four highlighted. If this were meant to imply it is a four star accommodation it would be misleading.

There are myriad rating systems. This one used by Travelocity is more or less typical. http://www.travelocity.com/info/info_popup...RATINGS,00.html

Four star: These superior properties distinguish themselves with a high level of service and hospitality, as well as a wide variety of amenities and upscale facilities. A well-integrated design, stylized room decor, excellent restaurant facilities, and landscaped grounds are all present. The comfort and convenience of the guest is the staff's prevailing concern.

Perhaps a more acceptable star rating for Don Plaza would be two stars.

Two star: These properties meet a traveler's basic needs for comfort and convenience while offering moderate aesthetic enhancements in the property grounds, room decor, and quality of furnishings. Some may offer limited restaurant service, however room service is usually not provided.

This is not to denigrate the Don Plaza. If I were on a holiday, and watching my budget I might very well stay there, but a guest expecting to check into a four star accommodation would be disappointed.

It does have a supremely important amenity not usually included in hotel rating systems -- access to an unlimited number of affordable boys.

The website says Jimm Jimmy James is CLOSED! I really enjoyed that bar. Anyone know the story?

He closed approximately 3 weeks ago due to the lack of business during the low season..It was just costing him too much money to keep it open. If I'm not mistaken he plans on reopening when high season starts..
