PattayaMale Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 A few months ago I had eaten at the restaurant that took the space that Googies use to be in. It was almost exactly the same menu including price that Googies had. The other day I drove by and saw a banner saying "New Season, New Menu, Lower prices, Same quality" so I stopped in. I noticed many changes. The place is air conditioned and now has free Wi-Fi, new tables and the bar has been moved to the side and the kitchen enclosed in glass. They still have tables outside and had indeed lowered the prices. (Maybe a first in Thailand) The menu still has breakfasts from around the world. The one I enjoy at Continental is the Swiss so had Mushroom's Swiss for comparison. They were exactly the same except Mushroom has added orange juice and has free coffee refills AND cheaper. The quality was good and service efficient. If you enjoy breakfast (served all day) you may wish to give it a try. Quote
Guest TOQ Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 Would you happen to know what time they open. john Quote
PattayaMale Posted May 26, 2009 Author Posted May 26, 2009 The sign says 8:30am but I have never been there that early. (In fact I have not been out of bed that early since retiring) Quote
Guest zzrichard Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 free coffee refills Now that has to be a first!! My BF and I ate there several months ago and were happy with the food and service. Now I may try the breakfast. Thanks for the review Quote
Guest Posted May 26, 2009 Posted May 26, 2009 The sign says 8:30am but I have never been there that early. (In fact I have not been out of bed that early since retiring) I will give it a try when I return. I just wish there were more places in Sin City that opened like 7AM for breakfast. They are few are far between. I am an early bird and while the worm I want sleeps until 12 noon or beyond, I like to eat, work, and be refreshed and ready when he wakes up. PS Now, this is 5 years with the same guy. Time flies. And to me, he just gets more beautiful with age. He was telling me his son is now 6 and growing fast. I remember when I found out it was his son and not his brother. Times flies when you get to know someone and honestly is at least a "little" part of the equation. Quote
Guest TOQ Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I just wish there were more places in Sin City that opened like 7AM for breakfast. I believe that Grottinos , across from the Salt and Pepper, opens up at 7 or 7:30. Have you tried there? john Quote

Guest lvdkeyes Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Since Foodland is open 24 hours/day I am sure their restaurant is also. Quote

Guest Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Grottinos is open early and they are OK. I never thought really good but they are OK. I used to eat there often. Papa David's is open at I think 7:30 and I was usually one of the first one there. Good food there as well. The staff are great and efficient and the food is very consistently tasty. Few places open for breakfast that are really good. IMHO Probably for me Papa David's is the best. The Marriott is open early, but unless you are staying there and getting it free, the buffet it is like 700 baht. If I sleep late, I enjoy Salt and Pepper's breakfast, but I don't think they open till 9 or so and I have already been up, went to the gym, read the paper, caught a few fish from the ocean, chopped wood for the evening and milked the cows. If I ever sleep late though, it is where I would go. Quote
Guest sabaisabai Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 I never ate at Googies when it existed. What is the name of this new restaurant and where is it located? Quote
