Maybe I can persuade Gaybutton to it and see the new establishment. No lipsyncing!!

If I'm not too busy watching a, shall we say, more personalized fashion show, I'll probably go.

Oh well plenty of other times.

Just to say that there are many reserved tables so I would be tempted to say to the readers get there well before 9,30pm,

Its all Very well having all this Hype on every Gay web site, but what happened, was it Interesting looking at Guys in Swimming Costumes and Outfits was it a full house, can you give us this Information Please. MR Manager. Must be the most Hyped Gay Business since 'Niddys Nook', dare I say, in all the same, but different names.

May be Gay Button went, if he is not getting much appreciation for his restaurant reviews, may be this is his Forte, Show reviews.

Thank you (I think). No, I didn't go. I had other things going on that were a little more interesting for me.

Actually, I'm not much for bar shows in the first place. I have yet to go to a show that I liked, with the exception of one, and this demonstrates my taste! I like Monty's show. I'll get to the Venue show sooner or later, and I'll say what I honestly think of it. I'll go with an open mind, although if the regular show turns out to include the usual lady-boys in drag, the lip synching, the extremely loud volume, and everything else that most of these bars do for their shows, it just isn't my cup of tea. Different strokes for different folks. But I certainly will at least go to see for myself and I hope I'll love it.

Hi Gay,Hey Gay

Is there some form of jealousy creeping in to your message!!

To answer your questions.

The Venue apologies to those people that didnt get to sit down at a table. Because of the overwhelming gay support and an over full venue it was just not possible to get in more tables and chairs to accomodate everyone. Success is always hard to measure!

The night...well a biased view would say fabulous and if you had been there you would have agreed.

Everything was slickly done..music, models etc.

I do have to mention ,yet again on this forum as on others, the models were definately Christmas gift material. Thats of course if you are into MEN.

A great night and I am sure was enjoyed by everyone. I do know that the owners have been asked to do something similar very soon. Can that be the success measurement of the night?

Up to you Hey Gay to answer that.

Mr Manager!!!!!not sure what you are referring to. There has only been one name... Kotter... and thats me......no other handles thank God.

Be careful please. I've already locked one thread because things got personal. If that happens on this thread, I'll be locking this too.

Confine your comments to the show itself, please.

I had been to Venue two previous nights and enjoyed the cabaret shows. In terms of costumes and presentation, it beats Monty's shows hands (and more personal parts of the anatomy) down. Of course the size and layout of the new club makes it a better venue (NPI) for such shows. I had, of course, heard the announcements of the coming fashion show and anticipated attending. Since none of the announcements I had heard mentioned anything about reservations, I assumed seating would be on a first come first seated basis so I showed up at 8:45 to find virtually every table empty but with a reservation sign on it. So I took off for Sunni Plaza where no one seems to have any reservations about anything.

I hope that in the future Venue's management will include such qualifications as reservations in their announcements, at least the ones they make at the club between shows. Later I ran into a friend who had attended. He thought the whole evening was terrific.

I assumed the same thing. There is not one word in either the ad or the post written by The Venue that says anything about reservations or a telephone number to call to make a reservation. Now I'm glad I didn't go. I nearly canceled my plans last night in order to go to see the show, and I live quite a distance from Jomtien Complex. If I had made an effort to get there for the show, only to be turned away because I hadn't made a reservation, without even being informed they were taking reservations, then I definitely would have been angry.

If the ad or post had said anything about reservations, that would be one thing, but since nothing was said, and I'm not a mind reader, then I think being upset with The Venue would certainly be justified. I also don't see anything about reservations or even an ad about this show on their web site.

Tdeprhs, you mentioned you had already been to The Venue twice, but even within The Venue there was no information about reservations for this show? I don't know how the people who did have a reservation even knew that reservations were necessary or what they did to make their reservations.

Their post on this web site includes, "The first of our Unique Sunday Night Jomtien Complex special evenings. Everybody's welcome to come along." Well, thanks a lot! Come along only to find that you can't get in, or at best end up with the least desirable seats in the house? That's some welcome!

I hope the management of The Venue realizes that accepting reservations for their show without saying anything about reservations in their ad or post, or providing a telephone number to make a reservation, was definitely a mistake and that they won't let it happen again.

Three friends and I went to the show last night. We didn't have reservations (and didn't realize they were necessary) and arrived at the Venue at 9:25. The place was packed, but the waiters moved a table onto the floor and we were seated. I'd never been to the Venue before although have walked by it often. I'm also one of those who avoid bar shows like the plague - drag shows, boys dripping candle wax on themselves, shower shoes, and the dreaded flowers being pulled out of rear ends, etc. - I'm afraid that after you've seen it once, you've seen it enough. But the fashion show promised to be something different and it was.

I was impressed. The show itself was very well done. the models came out one by one, showed off their outfits (I've never seen such skimpy swim suits on such hot bodies at Dongtan!!!) and then walked through the crowd along an open causeway. I liked the timing of the event. The guys came out, did their modeling thing for about 15 or 20 minutes, and then there was a break for about 15 minutes during which time waiters circulated for those who wanted their drinks refreshed. It gave us time to chat with our friends and not feel trapped by a show. After the break, they guys returned in new outfits and the process was repeated. Even better, the drink prices were a bargain - 90 baht for gin and tonic. If the Venue keeps up with their current attention to detail and high production values I can't imagine they won't become a mainstay of Pattaya entertainment. I really enjoyed myself.

I also sympathize with those of us who had no clue reservations would be wise to get. The question I have, though, is how did so many others learn reservations could be made or how to make them? Did I miss out on the psychic channel somehow?

If I had planned to go to the show I would have inquired regarding reservations knowing it would be a popular event. I learned this several years ago when I first went to the Gay Benefit party in Boyztown. There were no seats to be had and all the tables had been reserved.

You live close enough to easily go over there and do that. But not everybody lives so close or goes to Jomtien Complex very often. If they were taking reservations, then they should have said so and provided a number to call. Don't forget, most of us haven't even been in there yet and have no idea what their seating capacity is. I think it is their responsibility to let people know. I don't think it's our responsibility to have to anticipate that. The idea of making reservations hadn't even occurred to me. Even if it had, they did not show a telephone number to call.

Imagine if someone had come to Pattaya from Bangkok specifically to see this show, and then found out that he needed reservations.

I was not making excuses for The Venue or saying what I think you should have done. I said what I did to give others the hint to make a reservation whenever they suspect an event will be very popular. It would not be necessary to go to The Venue to make a reservation. Their phone number is listed on their website.

I apologize if I gave you the impression that you I thought you were. That's not what I meant. I'm only trying to emphasize my opinion that if they are taking reservations at all, they need to say so and give people who are not in close proximity a method by which they can make reservations.

They seem to have learned already! For the "Gala Event" on 4-6 June, they say "Advance booking essential...Capacity strictly limited..phone 038303787"

Something you should know is, the well hyped Lukas Ridgestone, will not now be coming to the VENUE

I'm not sure for lack of Interest or as they say in show business, owning to pressing engagements, I'm tied up else where.

But you have not missed anything, because I am going to show you what you would have seen, on the night, if he had flown to Pattaya.

So turn the lights down, get your self a stiff drink and watch this.

Failing that the money you have saved, go get the best boy you can find, watch it with him or just have fun together at least your be able to feel your guy live.

Plus here is the first interview with Lukas this is what the Manager may have asked him if he ever came to the VENUE.

Doesn't bother me. I couldn't give a rat's ass about Lukas Ridgeston. If I did, I'd be making trips to Prague instead of Thailand.

Now it has been confirmed the real Owner of the VENUE is Mr Money Bags and the Managers are just doing what the do best Managing, same as another well known ex owner, now Manager in BOYZ TOWN, getting a wage and bonuses, we can hopefully expect a good future for the VENUE with a good budget and a bright future.

I don't know what difference it makes who the owners are. I would think most people are interested in the bar and the show itself and couldn't care less who owns the place.

Last night I did see part of the show and I think it is quite elaborate (definitely too loud for my ears, though) and well done. People who enjoy cabaret shows are certain to enjoy The Venue. I like the fact that the seating is table seating rather than the usual bench seating found in most bars. I also like the colors and the lighting. I've always hated it when strobe lights give me a direct hit in the eyes, or a support pole blocks the view. There is none of that at The Venue and they are drawing a crowd for good reason. Again, if you like cabaret shows, then I think it's definitely worth heading for Jomtien Complex and seeing the show at The Venue.
