reader Posted January 24 Posted January 24 A movement born in post WWI America eerily mimics the "Make America Great Again" movement today. Nazi Town, USA tells the story of the German American Bund, a pro-Nazi group which in the 1930s had scores of chapters across the country, representing what many believe was a real threat of fascist subversion in the United States. They held joint rallies with the KKK and ran summer camps for children centered around Nazi ideology and imagery, melding patriotic values with virulent anti-Semitism. https://www.pbs.org/video/nazi-town-usa-y4vqkt/ Marc in Calif and floridarob 1 1 Quote

Only much later did I discover that the Bund had a chapter in the Chicago suburb where I grew up. We knew the town had a large population with German ancestry, and we faced some not-too-subtle bigotry. But learning about the explicit Nazi activities of the previous decade was pretty frightening -- and explained a lot. Quote
