Why you not living in Thailand?

Really?

If the reference was to restaurants and eating out, I prefer Thailand.

If it was about buying food to prepare yourself, the sheer abundance and variety of food available in the US is an advantage.

I come to bkk for extended periods and stay in Airbnb where me or my friend cooks one meal a day so I'm familiar with the markets (get most of my stuff in Foodland).

Well in my case the food is healthier for me in the USA. I know Thailand is known for their great food, I like it also.

im too lazy to cook so after getting out of a bar at say 3am I head over to Tops and get a triple chocolate muffin. Or raisin bread or something unhealthy.

I tend to consume too much rice and carbs in Thailand. In the USA salmon is more affordable and I cook there as I have more time to waste. Blueberry’s also. Very expensive in Thailand.

I mix real olive oil, crushed garlic, turmeric and real honey together in the USA. Here it’s difficult as it’s hard to tell authentic olive oil and the honey is mostly fake, just sugar. Also Thais use lots of sugar and lousy oils reused to fry food.

I can’t find refrigerated Cod liver or Fish oil here in Pattaya either.

I have a friend, ex lawyer, who retired to Bangkok 7 years ago. He is well off, which helps, and has bought a condo. He has a wide variety of interests, travels a lot, and doesn't sit in bars, at least not much! He has a lot of interests, and friends. He  has a close relationship, which also helps. He seems very content at present.

Your friend sounds like someone I'd like to know.  I am planning my move to BKK, and very much like to know a fellow gay expat(s) as platonic but sincere close friend(s), who hopefully would also be emotionally, financially and otherwise independent, educated, down-to-earth, trust worthy, with interests in (muscle) boys as well as many other things (nature-birding, art-thinking of taking part-time course in drawing, ceramics, photographing(?), travels, chit chat over good food.... PM me, anyone who's interested to talk
