A federal jury on Friday ordered Rudy Giuliani to pay over $148 million to two Georgia election workers for falsely claiming they committed ballot fraud in the 2020 presidential election.

The jaw-dropping figure includes $75 million in punitive damages, along with awards of $20 million to each of the two election workers for emotional distress and more than $16 million each for defamation.

Giuliani was in court as the verdict was read aloud by a federal judge.

The defamation damage award is the latest in a series of legal blows to Giuliani related to his service as the top campaign lawyer for Donald Trump in efforts to reverse the former Republican president’s loss in that election.

Giuliani, Trump, and 17 other defendants were indicted this summer on state criminal court charges in Georgia in connection with their attempts to undo Trump’s defeat.

The civil verdict by the jury Friday came a after Giuliani’s lawyer said he would not testify in the case in U.S. District Court in Washington, D.C., reversing his supposed plans to do so.

The plaintiffs in the case, Ruby Freeman and Wandrea “Shaye” Moss, who are mother and daughter, sued Giuliani in 2021 for defamation, intentional infliction of emotional distress and civil conspiracy.

Neither one will ever see a nickel....

This case will be appealed all the way to the Supreme Court. It will take years.
It is likely that the judgment will either be tossed out or the judgment lowered significantly at one of the layers of appeal..

Mayor Giuliani is 79, and not in the best of health. He will likely be flying with the angels in heaven before this case is finalized.
He is not stupid. I am sure he is already beginning the process of liquidating his assets so there will be nothing left for these two to claim from his estate.

Not to worry, Rudy. Trump says there's a check in the mail.

Giuliani files for bankruptcy protection

Rudy Giuliani filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New York on Thursday, citing debts that include a recent nearly $150 million civil judgment against him for defaming Georgia election workers while acting as a lawyer for former President Donald Trump.

The filing by Giuliani came a day after a federal judge in Washington, D.C., ordered him to begin paying the two election workers the damages he owed for their lawsuit against him.

Giuliani’s filing estimates he has assets worth between $1 million and $10,000, and estimated liabilities of between $100 million and $500 million.

The Court will examine any liquidations made in anticipation of filing for bankruptcy - attempts to avoid paying his debts.  The judgment in the defamation suit will be in full force and effect no matter this filing.  He admitted guilt, which means he's 'on the hook' for life. Any income he earns going forward is almost certainly going to be attached for payment to the two women.

The judgement amount against him will almost certainly be lowered. It was an insane amount.

Also, he has no income. And is unemployable. Those 2 money grubbers won't see a nickel.

Maybe Giuliani has some classified documents laying around he can sell.............................

...says the forum's resident Pinocchio.

Or perhaps he can be involved in a shady pay-for-play scheme with his son, and shake down leaders of foreign governments like Dementia Joe.

The amount awarded cannot be lowered without an appeal, and there cannot be an appeal unless Rudy can come up with a bond of $146 million. So I don’t really see that happening.

And that can be appealed also. The judge in the case is a well-known partisan hack.

This case will be winding its way the courts for years and years. As I said, these two faux victims will never see a nickel.

Rudy doesn’t appear to be appealing. He instead filed for bankruptcy which will not protect him from the defamation judgement. It may create delays in paying the judgement and that may be his Hail Mary pass.

Just another example of a person who destroyed their life for Trump.

Good move Rudy! don't let them get a penny. New York will forever remember you as America's Mayor.

Filing for bankruptcy does not prevent an appeal, which in this case is almost automatic. There will be an appeal, and even if he is found to have to pay, the amount will be drastically reduced. A judgement in this range is not legally supportable.

Rudy will be ok. He doesn't really have to pay that much. He'll pay as much as OJ has paid the Goldman family.
Can't get blood from a turnip. I guess those 2 money-grubbing, minimum-wage election workers won't be living a life of luxury after all.,,,  lol.
