Many of the hotels mentioned by others are marked. Except Rose Hotel, which I somehow forgot. It'll have to be amended when I get some time. Londoner Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 By the way, what will become of the Ramada site in Surawong? another hotel? or apartments? Quote

I once toyed the possibility but was told that no joiners allowed. Speaking of which, I'd like to ask others who have stayed in some other hotels. Which of these forbid or tax joiners? Le Siam, Some of the staff at Le Siam have been there for many years and I always consider this to be a good sign. I'm a regular there and the sad thing is that it has not yet fully recovered from the covid era, in so far as the restaurant is not really open and serves only a set breakfast for a few customers. Talking to staff, they were unhappy that during covid it was used as a short time hotel and the rooms mistreated. I am aware of probably a dozen porn movies that were filmed there during 2020-21 since the rooms are very recognisable. I don't think they ban joiners but after booking a room for two people, that would be very unlikely. The location is unbeatable being close to Dala Daeng BTS and so forth. vinapu and macaroni21 1 1 Quote
macaroni21 Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 I found this site: https://friendlyhotelsguide.com/guest-friendly-hotels-bangkok-thailand/ Someone took a lot of trouble to put the joiner question to numerous hotels. Silom area hotels are below and need scrolling. But that's also when one notices defunct hotels like Om Yin Lodge, Tawana, etc. It's always difficult keeping such information lists up to date. Quote

It would probably be easier and shorter to just list the hotels that are NON-gust friendly, as almost all the hotels in those areas mentioned in the article tend to be very liberal when it comes to having guests in your room. I would also specify when mentioning an hotel, if a key is required for the elevator or not. Pretty much, do you want the guy to come straight to your room or you don't mind pick him down at the lobby. I would also add Pullman and W Hotel (this one popular especially with Asian gay travelers) in the list of "gay-friendly" hotels, which I guess means an hotel were a good part of the crowd is gay. If so, during NYE or Songran pretty much every hotel in Silom becomes one. Quote
fedssocr Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 I can't add anything recent, but I stayed at the Siam Heritage on my first trip in 2006. Very strict no joiners policy there at the time. I was staying there during the coup that knocked Thaksin out of office and they would not allow my tour guide in that night when things were pretty chaotic. Quote
Boy69 Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 I like to stay at the Furama Silom 10 minutes walk from Patpong. no problems with guests you can just bypass the reception straight to the elevator. Spacious rooms (better to book their suprier rooms at the higher floors ) nice rooftop pool and decent buffet breakfast. splinter1949 and vinapu 2 Quote

I stayed once and discovered it permitted joiners but there was a cashier at the lifts and if you had not pre-booked a twin room, you were charged for an extra person before you could take your boy du jour up to your room. Oddly no-one seemed to mind in those days. TMax 1 Quote

I have booked it for January on the basis that it is guest-friendly I know that in the past, it charged a joiners fee, but I believe it has changed, Certainly according to this site (supposedly updated in 2023) it no longer does: https://friendlyhotelsguide.com/bar-girl-friendly-hotels-bangkok/ I guess i will have to take my chances, and head for the Surawongse short time place if they look for money for my guest Edited December 7, 2023 by forrestreid grammar macaroni21 1 Quote
revengeboo Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 Ibis Styles Silom is modern, and was fine but the rooms were small. No issue with guests. Furama had nice large rooms but a bit of a walk ~12min from the action but a pleasant walk or quick tuk tuk. Agree with poster about only going for the executive rooms but still very affordable. eurasian, macaroni21 and vinapu 2 1 Quote
Popular Post reader Posted December 7, 2023 Popular Post Posted December 7, 2023 Siam Heritage Hotel -- I just stayed there on the tail end of last trip I booked a room for 2 with breakfast through Agoda. At cheek-in I was alone but was issued two keys, even through I was unaccompanied. I had no problem bringing in ST guests. However, if you bring a guest to breakfast, hotel will require that the guest register .And that can be the only guest you can register during your stay. (since I had booked room for 2, I was not charged any additional fee). On the desk of my room there was a notice that stated that any guest would be assessed a 900 baht fee. It was the same notice that was there about 15 years ago when I last stayed at this place. The rooms are well equipped with comfortable bed, excellent shower for 2 and quiet AC. Ask for a room in the bak that are more distant from noise of Surawong. Small pool and fitness center on top floor (9). ============== Montien Hotel -- Of the hotels mentioned above, I believe the only one with no-guest policy is the Montien. It has a new wing and draws mainly upscale Chinese and Thai-Chinese clientele. =============== Amara Hotel -- No problem at all with guests. Great rooftop pool with plenty of lounge chairs if that's important. Recommended. jamiebee, 10tazione, macaroni21 and 4 others 5 2 Quote

I stayed at Siam Heritage and the manager told me no charge for a joiner. And I wasn’t. I was real impressed with the architecture there. I’ll definitely stay there again. Stayed at 56 Surawong and they said no joiner fee, and none charged. I brought the cute twink J from jomtien complex there. Well I ran into him walking around there. I usually stay at Tarntawan but as a walk in it was too expensive. Quote

Great buffet breakfast, nice rooms, no problem with 'friends', but 5 star, so more expensive. On New Year's day this year, half the people at breakfast were male couples! I stayed 8 nights at Le Meridien beginning with NY Eve. I started referring to it as Gay Meridien since it was overwhelmingly gay for the New Year. As an elite Marriott Bonvoy member, I was comped dinner for NY Eve and also given access to the Executive Lounge where they put out food at lunch and dinnertime. Referred to as "snacks" and "hors d'oeuvres' you could make a meal out of them and we did- several times! I stayed the last three nights at the Sukhothai for comparison and Gay Meridien wins out. Not to say that the latter hotel is bad, the staff were great and the room very nice. The buffet almost comparable to Gay Meridien. But the location is not friendly, or so I thought. Quote
