I've only done this once, several years ago and it was one of the bar boys. The only reason I hired him for around 3 days (if memory serves me right) was because I've hired him a few times before for one-offs, and we were quite compatible during those sessions.

Mind you, he was not a professional tour guide or anything, so for me it was more of having company to visit some of the touristic sites.

The rate I paid back then consisted of the bar's off fees + his tips for 3 nights. If you plan to go down this route, both of those rates would depend on which bar you're taking the boy from.

I have used SiamRoads quite a lot, and in particular Mac, in Bangkok. See other comments sbove. He is very good, knowledgeable about Thai history, and the gay scene. He occasionally has issues, ie disappears for a few days, but he is good. I usually pay him 4,000 for a day, which is over the odds, but never mind! I get him to come to the Meridien to have breakfast, and we go from there.

"Cons" for bar boys: their English mostly is very limited, half of them aren't Thai, so you you will pay for them in each temple and museum you want to visit, most of them have no idea about Thai history or interesting places to visit, their knowledges about city are limited to gay areas and some shopping districts, you easy may meet situation when site you visiting has day off exactly at the time of your visit. Police and touristic police may stop and check their ID and question them about their guiding license in most of historical places of Bangkok, so is better to avoid visits to most famous places like Royal Palace, Emerald Buddha, Wat Pho, Wat Arun and so on. They will be jealous if you will talk with other boys. You can't change boys in your bed every night. You never know whom you hired - he may be good boy, or criminal at past, or drug user, or thief, your safety is only your problem. Well, you forgot one detail - each guide is competitor for another one. So, usually I know who plays fair and who not, plus I can check their distance to guest's hotel at night via dating aps - they all are humans, so all have dating aps on the phones.

Dear, I run it 15 years. I understand that some guides may "scheme" with clients from time to time, but I also know that guides work up to 14 hours a day, especially in the high season, they sometimes walk up to 30 km daily, returning home at 1-2 am to wake up in the morning at 6-7 am. So if anyone hires them for anything other than a tour, they'll get a snoring piece of wood in their bed.

I've tried it both ways. I've hired tour guides and found that worked very well. They can save you money, efficiently arrange your days so you get more sight seeing in a shorter period, introduce you to the bars and give you insights into the boys but very likely will not have sex with you. In Pattaya I found a massage boy from Narcissus who spoke really good English and we had good chemistry. I spent 10 days meeting him every other day (5 days total) doing sight seeing, visiting food places I would never have tried myself, quiet bars just enjoying the company as well as having massage and sex. It was his suggestion to do every other day and I used the other days to chill, have massages and sex elsewhere. It worked well for me. 

Personally if it were my first time in Bangkok I'd get the guide for a few days. That's me though.

Sorry but I just have to comment on this..   One of your guides (this was a long time ago, like ~6 years) was not able to enter Grand Palace with me because he was not dressed appropriately.  From your comment I would have expected him to be aware of the dress code for a place like that.  Apparently not all guides have a lot of knowledge and experience ..

ive been to bangkok once before and had a tours like temples, markets, etc. for this trip im planning i wanna explore night life, gay scenes, etc. thats why im thinking if i can just have an escort to take me there for a few days

If you only want to hire in the evenings you can do this. The rates are on the website. They will also accompany you to gay bars, go-go bars and even saunas. I'd suggest you have a read of the web site as the information is all there.

That should be Mike or, if it was early, - Al). And they were not designated as "guide" on site, there was only "companion and concierge" in their profiles. All guys who are described as a "professional guide" on Siamroads have license and will not make such problems.

Sure, they will do with small exception: they will never be naked in saunas (typically they use swimming trunks there) and will not follow you to darkroom/labyrinths

Also one more detail - in bars with mandatory first drinks (mostly go-go and "shows") you have to cover cost of their drinks
