caeron Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 I hate this kind of weak-ass shit. There are thousands and thousands of legitimate arguments to make about US foreign policy through the years. Hell, US actions with the Shah of Iran would be high up the list, and the list is very, very, very long. So when somebody can't be bothered to even make a legitimate argument and just posts weak-ass false memes, it is an insult to the viewers intelligence. I feel no need to validate an underlying truth to somebody who can't be bothered to articulate it themselves. reader, PeterRS, Mavica and 1 other 3 1 Quote
reader Posted October 31, 2023 Posted October 31, 2023 From CNN Traumatized Thai farmers recount horror of Hamas massacre Udon Thani, ThailandCNN — Touching the side of his neck gingerly, 30-year-old Withawat Kunwong reveals a jagged network of scars he received after being attacked at a poultry farm where he had been working in southern Israel. The wound, Kunwong says, is a painful reminder of the fear and trauma he endured on October 7 when thousands of Hamas fighters broke through Israel’s border defenses in an unprecedented surprise attack. The farm he had been working on was located in the Holit kibbutz, an agrarian community near the Gaza Strip. He was livestreaming from the farm when loud explosions were heard and thick black plumes of smoke rose into the air as rockets flew overheard. He recalled hiding for hours that day but was discovered by a man he recalled as being a Palestinian dressed in civilian clothes who tried to cut his throat with a kitchen knife, after he “refused to surrender”. A savage fight ensued. After the violent struggle with his attacker, Kunwong was left for dead, heavily bleeding from the wound in his throat. He was eventually found and cared for by other migrant workers. He managed to survive, he believes, because the knife had been blunt and broken. It doesn't matter what the religion or nationality. Hamas has no respect for any human life. They even kill their own people, by putting munitions under schools, hospitals, and other civilian targets, in clear violation of international military law. Mavica 1 Quote

You think that the truth in Elon's meme is underlying because you justify US militaristic policies. There is no underlying truth, the truth it is all over your own statements. But we are getting distracted by geopolitics, and the core issue is the genocidal murdering of innocent civilians. Only dehumanizing Palestinians can anyone justifies the atrocities we are witnessing. Spare me of all the geopolitics bull shit to rationalize your hate. Kostik and Mavica 1 1 Quote
PeterRS Posted November 1, 2023 Author Posted November 1, 2023 1 hour ago, Latbear4blk said: Only dehumanizing Palestinians can anyone justifies the atrocities we are witnessing. The atrocity of the massacre in israel was horrific in the extreme. Those murderers and terrorists deserve extreme punishment. But the actions of Israel in Gaza, most recently the bombing yesterday of the refugee camp and the deliberate murder of 50 or more innocent civilians, takes punishment way beyond the meaning of the word. Sad to say, Israel has in the past shown a habit of over-reacting to atrocities. The 3-day massacre in 1982 of several thousand Palestinians and Lebanese citizens in the Sabra and Shatila refugee camps is perhaps the most notorious. At that time the stated aim was to eradicate the Palestinian Lberation Organisation. It didn't work. It strengthened the PLO. Attempting to get rid of Hamas will not work, either. Yet how many thosands more civilians will die, have their homes, towns and cities destroyed, and their lives made utter misery for years as a result of Israel's actions? I fail to understand one thing. Israel has also been extremely successful at tartgeted individual strikes. After the Munich Olympics massacre, Israel took a great deal of time to assess the situation, build a task force of experts and then set them loose to go into the world and kill the terrorists. To the best of my knowledge, very few - if any at all - civilians were killed in the assassination of the terrorists. All this was later brought to world attention thanks to Steven Spielberg's film Munich. Has Israel had no agents operating in Gaza for years whose specific aim has been to obtain details of precisely where leaders of Hamas are, or are likely to be, or where and how they move around? I fully accept that Hamas has no qualms about hiding amongst civilians and in places like hospitals. But murdering many dozens of civilians to kill one Hamas leader in a massive bomb strike has to be seen as a war crime. It appears to me part of a deliberate attempt to wipe out a population rather than take out one man. Every time an israeli or US politician talks about it being necessary as part of the bigger picture makes me feel sick. As Palestinian casualties rise exponentially in the days to come, the anti-Israel demonstrations around the world will surely only increase, in my view. War is ugly and all wars have their seemingly inexplicable atrocities. The Blitz, the carpet bombing of Coventry, Hamburg, Dresden, Tokyo and the unbelievably horrific rape in Nanjing and other cities in WWII mostly targeted civilians. I do believe that these occurred during the currency of wars between countries. Many will criticise me, but the massacres in israel and Gaza are between large groups of individuals - and this makes it quite different. Marc in Calif, vinapu and Ruthrieston 3 Quote

However, in the case of missile launch sites and munitions storage areas placed under schools and hospitals, that's on Hamas, since potentially many Israeli civilian lives are at stake. I would think, however, that taking out dozens of civilians to kill one military leader probably does represent a war crime. If it doesn't, it should. That goes beyond decency. Just because Hamas behaves like animals shouldn't given the IDF the green light to do whatever they feel like with no accountability. vinapu, alvnv, PeterRS and 2 others 5 Quote
Moses Posted November 1, 2023 Posted November 1, 2023 The director of the New York office of the UN high commissioner for human rights has left his post, protesting that the UN is “failing” in its duty to prevent what he categorizes as genocide of Palestinian civilians in Gaza under Israeli bombardment and citing the US, UK and much of Europe as “wholly complicit in the horrific assault”. Mokhiber, who was stepping down having reached retirement age, wrote: “Once again we are seeing a genocide unfolding before our eyes and the organization we serve appears powerless to stop it.” Mokhiber added: “This is text book case of genocide” and said the US, UK and much of Europe were not only “refusing to meet their treaty obligations” under the Geneva Conventions but were also arming Israel’s assault and providing political and diplomatic cover for it. “We must support the establishment of a single, democratic secular state in all of historic Palestine, with equal rights for Christians, Muslims, and Jews,” he wrote, adding: “and, therefore, the dismantling of the deeply racist, settler-colonial project and an end to apartheid across the land.” https://www.theguardian.com/world/2023/oct/31/un-official-resigns-israel-hamas-war-palestine-new-york vinapu, Mavica, Latbear4blk and 1 other 2 1 1 Quote
reader Posted November 3, 2023 Posted November 3, 2023 From The Nation The forensic evidence collector in Israel has revealed that many of the Thai workers killed in the Hamas attack had been shot in the head. A news reporter from Voice of America (VOA) in Israel interviewed officials overseeing the identification of bodies of slain individuals after the gruesome attack by Hamas militants on October 7. They said they found that the bodies of some Thai workers had been subjected to torture. From the interviews with the Israeli officials at the Churra base, it was revealed that the Thai workers who lost their lives and were sent to this location were agricultural labourers for the communities in Israel, known as kibbutzim. yCurrently, the bodies of the deceased are still being delivered for inspection by the officials every day, despite the fact that the Hamas attack and the killing of the victims occurred over 25 days ago. Israel has said that the attack by Hamas on October 7 killed 1,400 people, and 826 bodies had been identified so far. Natha Ketz, the official at the Churra base, told VOA that among the bodies, some were foreign workers from various countries. He mentioned that last week he had received the bodies of around 8 to 10 Thai workers who were working in agricultural areas near the Gaza Strip. "I received their bodies, and at that time I saw that their hands were tied behind their backs... They were in a kneeling position, with bullet holes in their heads," Ketz said. They chose wrong people to express those , goes without saying but to prevent repeat such atrocities in the future their cell must be opened. Israelis wont behead babies, ( not that sure about raping girls, but lets assume they won't ) but in their justified quest to fell safe no doubt they will kill much more babies in their onslaught of Gaza they Hamas did on Oct 7 as ration of Palestinian death vs. Israelis was always multiplier of the second. as for strict sharia law , while you are correct , short visit to Mea Sharim will tell you that such treatment of women is not limited to Arabs and it's clearly something in the Middle Eastern water which makes their men thinking that low about their mothers, sisters and daughters Mavica, alvnv and unicorn 3 Quote
