Gaybutton Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Two of my favorite gay personals web sites are: Gay Romeo: http://www.gayromeo.com and Gboysiam: http://www.gboysiam.com/picpost And those are just two of them. There are many more. Every day there are new profiles posted. On Gboysiam there are literally dozens of them every week, often every day, and that site has been there for years. Do the math. I'm grossly underestimating when I say there are at least 5 new profiles every day. There are usually many more than that, but if there were only 5 every day, that's at least 1825 new profiles per year on that web site alone. Where are all these boys coming from? And these are the ones who have found these sites in the first place and the ones who posted on them, usually with photos, after finding these sites. There must be an untold number of young gents who haven't even found these sites . . . yet. Everyone is entitled to his opinion, but mine is if ever a gay paradise existed on Earth, Thailand is it!!! If you truly believe the only way to find willing young men is to go to the bars, guess again. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Not even to mention the ones who don't have access to a computer. Quote

Guest fountainhall Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Everyone is entitled to his opinion, but mine is if ever a gay paradise existed on Earth, Thailand is it!! Well, if it's true that approx. 5% of any population is gay, then you're talking of at least 3 million here. Drop 1/3 for being either under age or for any other reason, and then halve that to take account of our lesbian sisters. That leaves at least 1 million gay men. 1825 new profiles a year seems a drop in the bucket to me! As you point out, there are dozens more websites that are almost exclusively Thai - and just as explicit. With the government so active in blocking overseas gay sites, I wonder why they leave so many Thai ones up and running? I guess the blockers must also be posters! Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 I suspect that there are more Thai gay men than Thai lesbians. Many straight guys would enjoy a private Tom and Dee show and to my knowledge there's not much of that in Pattaya. Quote

Gaybutton Posted March 30, 2009 Author Posted March 30, 2009 I also have never heard the phrase "Tom and Dee show." Also, maybe you're incorrect about the lesbians. If two lady-boys go to bed together, are they lesbians . . . . . . ? Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 In Thailand, Tom's are butch lesbians and Dee's are lipstick lesbians. Straight guys complain that the girls don't want to touch each other during threesomes. Guys who like ladyboys complain that the ladyboys don't want to touch each other during threesomes. Gay guys complain the boys aren't gay. No one is happy! B) Quote

Guest lester1 Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 Fountainhall's use of the 5% statistic to show there are about a million Thai gays as a support that Thailand must be the planets gay capital is worthless insofar as it would be true if applied to any country on earth. It means we should all go and live in China. I think what GB was getting at is the acceptance of it combined with a gay infrastructure that is what matters. However, I would question whether there is as complete acceptance as some would imply. We all tend to view Thailand through the distorting eye glass of life in the major cities and our involvement in the 'scene'. I would like to listen to an average Thais view of all this, but probably never will. Interestingly, as someone who has taught in ordinary Thai schools, I found it quite common for a class of 40 to have in it a small ladyboy already set on that way of life. (and I am talking of 12/13 year olds here). What is special about Thailand is the acceptance of that way of life when compared to other countries. Quote
KhorTose Posted March 30, 2009 Posted March 30, 2009 What is special about Thailand is the acceptance of that way of life when compared to other countries. Exactly, Thailand is actually living proof of Kinsey's Bell shaped curve. Quote

Of course, any country with a larger population would - in theory - have a larger gay population. t means we should all go and live in China Having spent a lot of time in China over the last few years, I can tell you the gay scene is mushrooming - at least in the main cities However, I would question whether there is as complete acceptance as some would imply I entirely agree with you. Thailand always seems to me a much more conservative society than the one seen through most gay tourists' "distorting eyeglass". Quote
