Aussie1978 Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 hey friends, Im planning a whorish trip to bkk in Oct. I'm planning on staying in the Silom area. Do you have suggestions in which hotels are setup where guests can let themselves up (ie no lift passes needed), and they can head straightup up to the room? If anyone would know - it would be you gents.. Thanks in advance Quote
vinapu Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Nantra Silom or Baan Silom but they still can be stopped by reception or night guard and asked where they go. Be nice to your boys and at least greet them in the lobby and escort them from there or as minimum tell reception ' My friend is coming in 1 hour , please let him in, my room is 212" reader 1 Quote
Boy69 Posted August 28, 2023 Posted August 28, 2023 Furama Silom and Le Siam you can just bypass the reception with your guests and nobody cares . Quote
Olddaddy Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I used to like the BBB inn ,who remembers that? Of course I shouldn't be talking about the past , I always was critical of older folk who talked about the past when I was younger now I find I do it myself 😂 vinapu 1 Quote
Keithambrose Posted September 1, 2023 Posted September 1, 2023 I remember the BBB Inn! Happy days. Going back to the thread, the main advantage of meeting the guy downstairs is no nasty surprises, ie 15 years older etc. Easier to politely remove the guy if you are in lobby! Their main advantage was that they had several massage boys who could be offed to one's room upstairs. Now it's just empty shell of the building waiting to be demolished I guess Quote

Olddaddy Posted September 2, 2023 Posted September 2, 2023 I don't think there is "gay exclusive" hotels in Bangkok nowadays I stayed in several in Cambodia a few years ago , there was 2 next to each other ,I think it was Steve & Paul's or something,it was good but I ended up moving to the one next door at half the price ! I'm pretty sure you are talking about Arthur&Paul and Rambutan (cheaper one ) in Phnom Penh. About Bangkok, yes , after demise of BBB Inn and converting Tarntawan to mainstream there are no gay exclusive hotels but there are rooms for rent at Coffee Grinder 2 doors away from Tawan bar . Gay for sure , if exclusive , not that sure bur since owner reads this forum he may chip in. Since all things gay become more mainstream there's no need for gay exclusive places other than perhaps saunas and massages. Go-go bars are already girls infested to a certain degree. Unfortunately with the dramatically falling number of gays coming to Thailand there is no financial justification for exclusivey gay hotels anymore , Even Copa and Ambiance at Boyz Town Pattaya are no longer 'gay hotels'. Not sure number if drop of gays visiting is that dramatic, we may just blend better in. No need to gay exclusive hotels when sight of white haired gentleman walking in with smooth guy 1/3 his age is not drawing anybody's attention other than perhaps some less wordly tourist's sitting in the lobby. Dongtan Beach as gay Beach gone , the gay Beach section in Patong Beach gone, Paradise Complex in Patong and Sunee Plaza in Pattaya reminds ghost towns, what more evidence do you need that the gay clientele in Thailand is not what is used to be ? Regarding the younger gay generation I agree with you they don’t feel the need to be in gay ghettoes and behave like the mainstream tourists. Phoenixblue and floridarob 2 Quote

There must be more people indentify as gay now more than ever so what's happened to the gay tourists? Quote

How right you are ! I was shocked yesterday to have a gay friend visit me from Australia's "red neck " State of Queensland. How times have changed,he told me him & his bf kiss openly in their city of Cairns in North Queensland. I started to tell him " well 30 years ago you couldn't do that , especially in Queensland Australia, but times have changed nowadays and for the most gay people are it seems & I can't say "accepted" .....but "tolerated" I guess . vinapu 1 Quote
Travellerdave Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 I remember that during my early visits to Pattaya ( year 2000 to 2005), I was rather inhibited whilst circulating with boyfriends (both Asian and farang) away from the gay ghettos. Avoiding close contact and certainly no kissing or cuddling, so as to avoid censure or stares. Boyztown was on the tourist trail for voyeur str’s. It’s a lot more relaxed now causing far fewer gay visitors to identify as such. Quote

As has been noted in other threads, the world in general is much more welcoming for gay visitors than it was even a couple of decades ago. Many potential tourists have already been to Thailand more than once and done Thai temples and other cultural elements that the Tourism Authority of Thailand think should interest visitors. I have gay friends for whom a beach is the priority. They are tired of Phuket which has become expensive and overrun with tourists. They now prefer to visit the Maldives or Sri Lanka. They have also discovered Vietnam's beaches which in many cases are better and cleaner than those in Thailand, especially in the central area. The increasing availability of gay guys also makes Vietnam very attractive. I believe younger gay tourists have different priorities from those of us who loved coming to Thailand 20, 30 and 40 years ago. floridarob, Boy69, Olddaddy and 1 other 4 Quote
ChristianPFC Posted September 20, 2023 Posted September 20, 2023 I think in Ibis Sathorn you can enter freely and go up to room. Not in Malaysia hotel across the road, where even I am stopped by security when visiting friends. I think mid-class and cheap hotels are less problematic than expensive hotels. When I stay in the provinces for 400-700 THB per night, never a problem to have guests come to my room, i.e. there is no security who would stop them and they don't need a keycard to operate the lift. Most place I stay in operate by traditional mechanical key anyway. After a day out sightseeing, I return to my room, take a shower and stay in towel afterwards. It's great to find someone online and he comes to my room, knocking on door, and I don't have to get dressed again to meet him at reception. vinapu 1 Quote

reader Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 At one time or another during the past 21 years, I've stayed in every upscale hotel and many mid-range locations in Silom and never once encountered a single issue of this type. In the early days, I had a few young men who were very apprehensive about entering (one saying, "I can never go"). I calmed them by making conversation as we passed through the lobby--even if they couldn't understand me. I realized that the most important factor was that if I feel comfortable, it will extend to the staff and my guest as well. 10tazione and vinapu 2 Quote
omega Posted September 21, 2023 Posted September 21, 2023 I stayed at Amara a few years back, I had no issues with bringing anyone back. I can see why quality hotels wouldn't let anyone just walk in off the street and go up to rooms, but if accompanied by a guest, it shouldn't be an issue. Quote
