Guest GaySacGuy Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 The Uniting American Families Act would allow gay and lesbian Americans and permanent residents to sponsor their foreign-born partners for legal residency in the United States.Silver City Sun-News - Mar 20 8:38 PM Good News for Binational Same-Sex Couples Earlier this week, The Washington Post came out in support of the Uniting American Families Act, a piece of legislation that would “right a gross unfairness” in the Post ’s eyes by “[allowing] gay and lesbian Americans and permanent residents to sponsor their foreign-born partners for legal residency in the United States.” Sounds good to me! But, we have to pass the bill. KhorTose Posted March 22, 2009 Posted March 22, 2009 Thanks gaysacguy for the info. Do you know if any of the sponsors are republican? I sure hope it does pass and will look for articles on it. Quote

Doesn't matter the issue or the importance..the want to OBSTRUCT. Hope we can convince a couple in the Senate to be reasonable, and we can pass this bill. Quote
PattayaMale Posted March 23, 2009 Posted March 23, 2009 I wonder how many of the forum readers have taken the 2 minutes it takes to sign the petition and let others know about this. Too many of us have been or will be denied the opportunity to show our Thai partner our home country (if a US citizen). Yet it seems that possibly we have decided that our voice is not worth much....other than to complain to our gay friends here in Thailand. We have been disappointed before so it is better not to get our hopes up. But look at the power we really do have, especially now, while we have a President that will sign the bill into law when passed. If we sign the petition and get 5 friends (gay, straight, or bi) to sign and they each get 3 or 4 to sign we can turn 5 minutes of our time into a pretty large force. Please sign the petition. Then just copy the link and send an email asking others to do the same. You don't have to use the sites form letter. Use your own email program. I di dthid and honestly 5 minutes and I sent the link with my personal appeal to 30 people I know in several different states. Thanks Quote
