I was just on Grinder in my  own country,have the full subscription so logged into Bangkok area ready for my upcoming trip 

I saw a African guy so messaged  him for a price . (Bangkok)

He replied 4,000 baht for 1 hour !

Now that's a lot actually western price .

The only time I have ever paid that and more was in Cambodia for a straight guy .

Have you or do you pay over this amount and for what reason.

Obviously in Pattaya where im a regular visitor 1000 B is the norm 

But....ok it's a African guy I know

what Western country are you in where 4000 baht is the going rate? Here in the US it's more like 7000-10000 depending on your location but most big cities are in that range.

If you factor in drinks, off fee and paying the boy isn't 4000 around the price in Bangkok? I did pay quite a bit at Zoo Spa for the super package that included massage, etc.

African citizens working in Thailand are asking more than the Thai or neighborhood countries boys couple years I negotiate a rate of with African hunk 23 y.o.  to 1500 in BKK first he didn't agree but after I replied take it or leave it he agreed maybe because it was early noon and anyway he didn't have any clients so early I don't know.  the next day he suggested to come again on the same rate and I gladly agreed because he was very good in bed and nice person , At Pattaya young African twink 19 y.o. immediately accepted suggestion of 1000 bht plus 100 for transportation. Both were from Madagascar. I guess had a luck with both of them because I  know usually African rates are higher but me personally won't pay more than what I paid so it's up to them to accept of not.

I've seen Brasilians in BKK asking for a lot... I've been with a few African guys in Thailand over the years and paid whatever the going rate was...1000 in Pattaya and 1200-1500 in BKK.

if he knew or sensed that  you are not in Thailand he could give you any price knowing that no deal will come out of it anyways.

 

To answer original question, yes few times I paid 4000 even 5000  ST but it was always for hunks I was lusting for and what's most important did not regret overpaying and short time was not that short, 2-3 hrs rather than one. Africans are rarity in Thailand so they may think they command premium

While I know there are quite a few white escorts, mostly from Russia, Ukraine and other ex Soviet republics in Bangkok and that they mostly target locals or other Asian travelers, it's more difficult to say it about African mbs. I assume most are Caucasian clients, East Assians are not sharing the fetish for a sex with blacks. This explain why your Thai boyfriend was surprised that African MB are working in BKK , They are not popular among East Assians potential clients .

no, you are not,  your are right to point out that Thais guys are  to be trusted the most.

I'm not even 1/5 as cautious as you are but if I'd be bringing home  other guys than SE Asians I'd more cautious than normally.

On subject of Tarntawan I don't like to stay there for exactly the same reason you do like  - I don't like all that holding ID procedure by the elevator. Once during day I had two members dropping over for drink and chat, both Asians or Asian looking and they were made to leave their ID's there as well. We had a laugh

I am the same, although I can understand the hotel policy to deposit the ID for their guests safety I feel embarrassed for my companion threatening him like a potential criminal,  also I had horrible stories of reception staff demanded money from the boy in order to give  them back their ID . When I stayed at Silom I preferred hotels which can bypass the reception easley straight to the room.
