True—after traveling 16+ hours to Bangkok, a 25-minute train ride really shouldn’t be that bad.

But, when laziness kicks in, even the shortest trips can feel like a Himalayan trek!

It’s all about perception. Walking to Prince, knowing there's a high probability of a great session waiting for you, suddenly doesn't feel like a chore at all. It’s like the universe is giving you that extra push!

I often wonder, with the regular price just costing 400-500 baht anyway, why bother even packaging it up as bulk deal. Is the clientele of Saphan Khwai shops are that price sensitive to 100baht? This type of marketing doesnt seem to make sense to me.

If anything, they can try to upmarket the boys- better photo, etc.

Package deal means shops gets more money upfront. Especially during low season, this is crucial to keep the shop afloat with rental payment etc. Make sense to me.

Given that Saphan Khwai shops originally catered to local clients—and I believe a significant portion of their current business still comes from local patrons—the 100 THB savings per session can be a good deal for them. However, for more transient customers like us, this may not offer optimal value.

Can assure you that the local clientele take good advantage of the promotions. On a few occasions, I recognized some repeat customers going to of from showers so it appears the savings does make a difference.

Although some of the SK guys could hold their own vs the tonier spas, the majority fall into guy-next-door category and that suits me just fine. I think at least half of the bars do a good job of posting photos and particulars.

I usually come for two-month visits so the discounts I found useful. On last trip purchased three promotions at Phetboy alone. Very satisfied with results and savings.

Based on my research, Gbeat > One (VIP) > Home (VIP) > Phet > Kman ..

I think first thing is not to have bed on the floor….and also washroom in the room would be a huge plus….

It may be counter-intuitive, but from my experience with Saphan Khwai places, I would go for the opposite priorities: mattress on the floor and bathrooms down the corridor.

Since the point of going to Saphan Khwai is playtime rather than massage, I would choose a floor mattress room instead of a massage table room in that locality. In other places with good massage technique I would choose the opposite.

Note: Some places have queen-sized beds instead of massage tables or floor mattresses. One Spa's VIP rooms come to mind, as do Senso's rooms (but the latter shop is in Silom, not Saphan Khwai).

If a room in Saphan Khwai has a shower stall ensuite, it is likely to be 0.9 x 0.9m, too small for two persons. If one uses the bathroom down the corridor, there is a good chance of the boy joining you there.

I rarely read reviews; I don't totally trust them seeing how they are sometimes generated (coming article on ShamelessMack expands on this).

As background, if it's my first session at what looks like a Type 2 place, I generally let things take their natural course. I am mostly interested in seeing what happens, what is offered to me without prompting. That way, I can be surer whether it is a Type 1, Type 2 or Type 3. The showers in Phetboy are spacious and can easily accommodate two. Only one room (VIP) has a massage table.

At One Spa, standard rooms share shower/toilet rooms down the hall. But the VIP rooms are spacious and come with massage table and shower/toilet that's fine for two. KK Massage has shower/toilet rooms down the hall and, while narrow, can accommodate two.

Home Spa probably has the least desirable showers, none of which I recall encourage sharing.

Its interesting you mentioned about the trustworthiness of review. I would be very curious to see you expand on that thought. 

I agree to take these reviews with grain of salt primarily because they rate anyone with lowest score of 4/5 or 7.5/10. I mean, if that's the baseline I take that as reliable as Google review of 4/5 which isn't much - average at best. 

They also often collaborated and/or inform the store which is at times function of necessity because they take pictures of facility and masseurs. At the very least the masseur would be aware that they are being reviewed which tilt the bias toward more "curated" experience.
