Massage shops on Sutthisan Winitchai Rd.

Myself and others have been posting from time to time about the massages shops on Sutthian Winitchai Rd. in the Saphan Kwai district.

I first started patronizing these shops two trips ago during my return after Covid period. My best count is that there are currently four shops operating. Two (Home and BT House) appear to have more guys available on site, particularly in the evenings. The other two, KK Spa (not to be confused with K-Man near Saphan Kwai BTS), and the new One Spa, rely heavily on “on call” masseurs.

All of these shops will make available photos with varying amounts of data. But if you find you have heart set on one particular guy, call or send Line message. In most cases, manager will then attempt to contact the subject by phone. On a recent weekday I was looking to book a 5pm appointment and my first three picks proved unavailable, which usually means they did not return his call.

Fortunately, most shops have an extensive group of guys to choose among. Quite a few will work at two or more of the shops. I refer to them as free agents. 

The bottom line is there is value and choice in the shops. The facilities are decidedly more rustic than you’ll find around Silom or Sukhumvit areas. The minimum tips range from 800 to 1,000 with a few asking 1,200 for an hour. The corresponding House fee is in the 380 to 500 range.

One Spa is offering a package of 50, one hour massages for 10,000 baht with no expiration date. That’s an average of 200 per session, half regular rate.

Management claims it can be shared with friends but doesn’t comment if your estate can inherit unused sessions should you succumb to exhaustion.

Another new massage shop has opened on Inthamara 25 off Sutthisan Winitchai rd.

Saengchan Spa is associated with One Spa which opened a few months ago.

I wonder what is the purpose of multiple branches in the same vicinity and the same guys moving between the branches upon demand?

Wouldn't it be nicer to have one big spa?

Has anyone already experience with 15M or will I have to be the first one?

I was a bit surprised myself. It’s a very heavily populated area so I assume there’s strong demand. Also, this shop is first I’m aware of that’s not on the main drag so rent may be lower. Should benefit the guys who now have more outlets.

This shop distributes daily listings of masseurs available on its LINE site but today is set some sort of record with a dozen photo arrays featuring 100+ guys of every description. Although all are free agents and many can be found on other sites, this is the single largest collection I’ve seen to date.

This Saphan Kwai location and Silom Soi 6 represent the two most concentrated areas in Bangkok to find all-male massage shops.

correct , Ii even saw one guy also featuring in offer by Apollo Spa , precisely at other end of Bangkok, by Bearing station.

As always where is too many  choices I found it more confusing that helpful, LOL

This is an area of small row houses, so there are more leasing options for small shops rather than look for a space with large floor area. Having multiple small shops also makes the business more flexible. If times are bad, one can close the worst-performing shop and keep the rest running.  It allows the business better bargaining strength with landlords. If one landlord asks for a steep increase in rent, it is possible to walk away from the deal and still have other shops in operation. 

Another possibility is that each shop is structured as discrete businesses with different minority shareholders. That way, the main shareholder can tap on multiple minority shareholders for capital, so although to us they may look like a single buisness, in fact the ownership mix of each shop is different.

The Saengchan Spa on Inthamara 25 off Sutthisan Winitchai rd. announced by LINE today that it has changed hands. Opened in June, the notice says that the new owner plans to close it for repairs and plans to reopen around Sept. 1st.

For those who venture to Saphan Kwai in search of massage options, they’ll be pleased to know that that work on new sidewalks (and the water pipes below them) is just about complete on both sides of Sutthisan Winitchai rd. and walking confit are good. 
 

Shop update — Saengchan Spa on Inthamara 25, that closed in August for repairs, appears now to have consolidated its operations with KK Massage near Inthamara 23. One hour oil 380, wide selection on LINE or available on tablet upon arrival. On weekends you may find a handful of guys available in the shop. (Line: @bkk23)

KK Massage has made it easier for customers arriving without booking to scan tablet for their preference. Masseurs are now presented in two categories: T&B’s and “straights”.

Plenty to choose from in both.
