macaroni21 Posted June 10 Posted June 10 Most of us knew Sol Club wasn't going to survive. It had no imagination. Also, in its brief existence, did it even invest one baht in advertising and marketing? Even that huge column could have been turned into an asset if they knew how. I described a different floorplan and business model last November. https://shamelessmacktwo.travel.blog/2023/12/13/how-to-take-in-that-massive-thing/ jamiebee and floridarob 2 Quote

They should be doing a lot of things, I thought his plans/drawings and ideas were great. I didn't think of them and I'm sure the owners obviously didn't either. We try to support these bars so they exist even pay high drink/off fees..... I didn't say he had to share them, but it might've helped. Quote
reader Posted June 11 Author Posted June 11 It very much remains to be seen of the new dance club (opposite Foodland) will prevail. There are moments when more people are observing the action from outside than there are paying customers within. A few portable food vendors set up nightly on Patpong 2 and some fans bring chairs to watch and listen from across the way. Somehow I suspect the King Castle group is prepared to take it through low season and then reevaluate the concept. If it was up to me I’d turn it into an Italian restaurant specializing in thin crust pizza. Sooner or later those financing new ventures will take a page from the success of Soi 4’s mixed use concept which can already be seen afffecting Patpong 1. You need to broaden the appeal to meet the foot traffic. You already have a good selection of girl and boy bars. You can make them more successful with other options that will drive people into the area. Certainly Banana bar, Jupiter and now Beef are good examples from Soi 4. jamiebee and vinapu 2 Quote

If one is running a business, one should be constantly trawling social media and elsewhere (plus getting feedback from customers) for ideas. One should also be looking not just at what other bars locally are doing but what bars in other countries are doing. I did give unsolicited advice to Paul when he was running the now-defunct New Twilight. Told him he should get his basics right: Aircon too cold. Music too loud. LCD screen too bright rendering his gogo boys into silhouette rather than showcasing the boys. Send his doorman further out to give out leaflets, and not just hope to pull in passersby (there were none to pull in, since they were located offside), etc etc. Needless to say, suggestions were not welcome. jamiebee, vinapu and floridarob 2 1 Quote

It is strange. One has to assume that they want to succeed, but seem unwilling to make the effort. Quote
jason1975 Posted June 12 Posted June 12 I discovered a pool bar which is cosy and private. Only 30 baht per game. Run by ladies. Next to pharmacy near Foodland Patpong. Very good way to pass the time with your guy if he enjoys playing pool. 20240611_194649.mp4 vinapu 1 Quote

jason1975 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I was with fellow forum member last night and we had a fun night going to different bars from 9.30pm to midnight. - Banana - Freshboys - Hotmale - Good Boy All 4 bars were filled for the shows. The promoters outside each bar did a good job of getting in tourists including straight people. But after the shows, most left. Few offs. I won't say business is grim. Neither will I say it's booming. Each bar has its niche. I eventually found the right guy for me at Good Boy but I could have offed several from Freshboys! eurasian, paulsf, jamiebee and 1 other 4 Quote
jason1975 Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Lovers of guys in white bikini briefs, you can head to Freshboys. When they stand on stage at beginning of night, they are in white shorts. After the first show, they remove white shorts and are in white bikini briefs for viewing pleasure before the second show. vinapu and eurasian 2 Quote

vinapu Posted June 15 Posted June 15 I guess we need to go on with the program and enjoy what we have. Fortunately even jeans may do as I find boys in then sexy as long as jeans are not too loose. Certainly for me new dress code is not an obstacle and is not preventing me from bar visits being secured in knowledge that eventually at least one jeans/ boxer briefs or even bikini briefs will be removed that night. Still completely dressed boys at BBB Boyztown are aberration but who knows , may be this is what their customers want to see on the stage ? Quote

reader Posted July 7 Author Posted July 7 The bars and massage shops have been quiet in Silom for past week or so but anyplace with big screen TV’s we’re doing huge business with football fans. Big winner was Shenanigans on Surawong with every seat taken and spectators gathered on the periphery. And first time I’ve seen all the seats taken at Pink Panther outside bar that has giant screen. Only place still not doing much of anything is new music bar opposite Foodland. vinapu and jamiebee 2 Quote
