Popular Post reader Posted May 5, 2023 Author Popular Post Posted May 5, 2023 From Thai PBS World Many turn up to receive bivalent vaccine booster doses provided by the BMA Many people have shown up since Songkran to get COVID-19 vaccine booster doses, provided by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt said today (Friday). At some vaccination centres, he said that the number of people wanting to be vaccinated on some days exceeds the daily limit of 1,300. The city administration is providing free Moderna bivalent booster doses to all Thais, but will charge medical service fees to foreigners at 380 baht per head. The vaccination service is available at all hospitals and health service centres operated by the BMA and at six shopping malls, including Central World, MBK Center, ICS opposite Icon Siam, Terminal 21, Victoria Garden in Bang Khae and Robinson Lifestyle in Lat Krabang. Much like the flu shot, I'll get one each year or as needed to keep my chances stronger. I don't wear masks (except in taxis where it is expected). I have worn masks and used hand sanitizers virtually all the time in Thailand. My concern recently has been primarily the number of tourists visiting Thailand and the consequent possibility of somehow getting infected despite having had 4 vaccinations. Just over 2 weeks ago I was in Hong Kong for 48 hours. Although all restrictions have been lifted, again I wore masks. I know that most masks are far from foolproof, but I feel better wearing them. Then about 4 or 5 days after my return I started to feel unwell. Thereafter I tested positive and underwent a really bad week. For almost 3 days I had a very high fever and various lesser ailments. Worse, I had absolutely no appetite. For a week I was able to eat only a small bowl of cereal and fruit in the morning. By mid-week, I tried to drink some clear soup. After three spoonfuls I felt sick. All I could do during that week was drink lots of water, sometimes with electrolyte powder. Oddly, the really sore throat I was told to expect never materialised. It took 8 days before I tested negative over 2 consecutive days. The one good thing - if there is anything good about getting covid - is that I was at home. Had I been on vacation, it would certainly have ruined most of it. Perhaps ironically, I had tried to get a booster prior to a trip to the UK in early March, but was told by all the hospitals i contacted they had no stocks of vaccine. I certainly recommend that anyone presently living in Thailand, especially of the older generation, get a booster shot if available. TMax, thaiophilus, Patanawet and 5 others 4 4 Quote

thaiophilus Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 Code of Conduct: Gay Guides membership is restricted to Adults Only. That Message Center members shall be expected to behave as adults is not an undue burden. The expected conduct standard for the Gay Thailand forums is the same as that observed every day in society by adults in our neighborhoods, towns, and cities. It is based on straightforward mature behavior, civility and courtesy that you find in a neighborhood Pub or Tavern where neighbors and acquaintances joined by occasional strangers come together to socialize in good temper, to share conversation, and to hoist, in moderation, a glass of favorite beer or wine or a cup of coffee or tea. These forums are NOT presented for abusive arguing and name calling, score-settling, thread stalking, or general cyberspace blood sport for the chronically bored. As in any Pub or Tavern, an egregiously abusive or chronically problematic customer (member) shall be banned from further post participation. In all instances, Gay Guides management shall be the final arbiter of what constitutes egregiously abusive conduct or when a member has crossed the line of "chronically problematic". In general, terminated memberships shall not be eligible for reinstatement. Patanawet, PeterRS, Ruthrieston and 1 other 3 1 Quote

a-447 Posted May 12, 2023 Posted May 12, 2023 I'm off to Japan next week and I'll be joining all the locals and wearing a mask indoors, even though the mask mandate has been lifted. When I was there in Dec/Jan the mandate was still in place and everyone wore a mask, apart from quite a few tourists who refused, despite being asked to do so. I wore a mask in Thailand last month every time I got into the elevator or caught the train. I didn't bother outside. I'll continue to wear a mask because at my age Covid can be dangerous. Also, I know of many people here who are experiencing long Covid and I think that would be worse than Covid itself, which can usually be treated with anti-virals. One friend has a persistent cough after recovering over 6 months ago; another suffers from chronic fatigue and is unable to socialise with us. PeterRS, TMax, Ruthrieston and 1 other 4 Quote
