Beach Road to be Widened - Maybe

As you suspected, the flyover connects to an express route to the motorway out by the Regents School. That route is nearly finished. It is only the one property on the east side of Sukhumvit that is holding up the project. Presumably, someone is holding out for top dollar, but I think someday soon that small cluster of shophouses will disappear overnight.

This express connection will be welcome but it doesn't seem to me that it will cut too many minutes from the drive. So many other more worthwhile road projects.

As for Pattaya Beach Road, there's no way to gain 18m of width. On one side there's a sidewalk that's barely a meter; on the other side the water itself is barely 18m away. And it's nuts to think that they could demolish 3 kilometers of shophouses.

The solution will have to be a mix of things, none of which will line the pockets of developers. Get the songteows under control, never ever let the gardeners or the trash guys block the beach-side lanes, open up a soi in each direction somewhere around soi 13 for quicker access to / escape from the Beach Road.

I noticed yesterday that the remaining blocking property has now been demolished and thus opening up the way to complete this very useful-looking link between Sukumvit/Pattaya North area to the Rayong/Chonburi road at Regents School. Behind the demolished property, the rest of the route seems near completion.

In our attempt to get to Sukhumvit Rd today we came upon a road that looks like the work has stopped. The road I mean runs parallel to Jomtien beach Rd just north of Soi 6-7. Does anyone here know anything about it?

A few months ago I went on an exploratory walk and stumbles upon that gravel road. Seems like a good idea that would ease traffic on Jomtien Beach Road.

It is my understanding that the intent is for the Jomtien Beach road to become one-way, heading south and the new road will be one-way, heading north. If that is the case, it doesn't seem like a very good idea to me. Unless something is planned that I don't know about, it will be quite a walk for beach-goers to catch a baht bus heading back toward town.

Yes, it is a long walk, even further than from Pattaya Beach Rd to Second Rd. Seems like a crazy idea to me too. They have sidewalks mostly in place and the road is wide, but abruptly ends at a cement wall.

It is a crazy idea. I hope the way I heard it turns out to be wrong, but don't be surprised if that's exactly what they intend to do. In another post you asked me if I forgot where I am. This idea, if what I heard is the way it will be, is certainly a very good reminder.

It seems that things here happen re-actively instead of proactively without thinking things through. Maybe committees should be formed. (he said facetiously).
