I must say I have often found no use for social media but for the past few months I didn't go out a lot and I started following some sexy lads from OnlyFans on Twitter and Instagram. I did not expect a great deal but I have now met up with three of the OnlyFans guys that I wanted to meet and had a great time. They were fun and great sex and while not really "working", they were willing to earn some extra income from a nice easy going old man. One I have seen a few times and will be a regular for sure. I also love watching this videos online which is quite exciting for me.  So, for anyone who thought it was not possible to meet those OnlyFans or Twitter guys, think again. It is possible (with a lot of patience and time). ;)

I think it is an international trend. Brazilian sex workers have been using IG as their main outlet for several years, and the same happens in Argentina, the two sex markets I know the best in South America.

I wonder about the USA, though. I stopped hiring there a few years ago so I am unsure whether or not they are moving away from paid websites like Rentmen to focus more in their social media.

I have had some great success with IG guys as well, a couple were freelance working guys and a few are just normal guys that didn't want any money.

I will say it can be difficult to get a conversation going with some, they get hundreds of messages from guys wasting their time, so getting a conversation started and then working out if offering money will offend them or not can take some time. I find Grindr and Onlyfans can be much easier, but some of the cute guys on IG I have on my radar don't seem to be on Grindr so I just have to shoot my shot there.

It's a very different game for non-working guys on IG though, you need to approach it like dating sometimes, and trying to line things up is much better if you're already in their city. Bombarding them with love messages from afar and trying to get nudes from them is 90% of their inbox, standing out from that crowd to get a connection or replies can be hard work at times.

OK, I'm convinced. But the last time I tried to download Insta, it went into my contacts list and notified everyone there that I now (then) had an account. Does anyone know if this is still the case?

Not sure on Android, but right now, no app on an Iphone can access your contacts unless you explicitly give that app access to them.

You have to read all the messages, though, one by one, carefully and I always say no to everything: location tracking, internet activity tracking, contact access, camera access, microphone access, etc. unless I need that app to access one of these features.

Also, don't give the app your phone number, just an email address which you have opened just for this sort of trash use.

Instagram is just posers. Some of the Chaturbate boys use it, that's the only reason to try contact boys there. Was nice for me when I was in central America
Find the boys with a naughty twitter account. I have maybe 18-20 boys from Jomtien/Pattaya that I follow on Twitter. It's fantastic. 
I especially like it when they post clips with other boys who I know. Might be a 30 second preview clip linking to an onlyfans, but that's good enough. If you live here, you don't need to pay for the onlyfans, you can invite them to your room.

I have contacted various cute boys on Instagram and Twitter (don't know if they are on Onlyfans, in some cases don't even know if they are gay), but response has been poor, i.e. zero in most cases. Those who replied I haven't met any yet for space/time restrictions.

Would you share your contacts in the online dating forum?

I scored in my last trip with a Thai guy I found on Twitter and might meet another one next month. I saw a video of him uploaded by a Kiwi guy and decided to contact him.

He replied pretty fast. One thing I noticed with Twitter though and I'm not sure if it's limited to Android, is that I don't always get a push notification when someone sends me a DM. That might be also a contributing factor of why sometimes there is no reply.
