Motorbike ownership (the other MB)

They say that I would need a resident card or work permit. I have neither, but I would like to buy a motorbike.

Does anyone know a way around this?

You need a letter of residence, not a residence card. 
You can get one of these from Immigration.

Ohhh, is that the same you need for a driver's license?

I've done that a few times over the years and that wasn't difficult.

Yup same document. Also usually required for opening a bank account.

I have purchased at least 30 bikes over the years and never needed to produce any document. Is this a new requirement?
