bert Posted November 11, 2022 Posted November 11, 2022 I read some different comments about this subject. It makes that I have not made a decision because it's still difficult to evaluate the safety condition of an independent traveller. So experienced travellers, please tell me about the safety situation in the Colombian cities. Thanks so much. I'm used to travel in the Far East (Thailand, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam...) where safety is really not an issue. Quote
12is12 Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Bert, I've visited 4 times. Medellin, Cartagena, Bogota. Never felt unsafe. However, since there IS a safety issue, I followed common sense rules pertaining to Latin America. No hay problema. Actually, no habia problema. floridarob and TotallyOz 2 Quote

speedoo1 Posted December 9, 2022 Posted December 9, 2022 I have been in Colombia twice. As a general rule you should try to avoid walking around after dark/at night. There are certain areas/barrios in Colombian cities that should be avoided after dark/at night. These areas will often be deserted at night; poorly lit and with poor housing. Stay away/ turn back! If you see other people walk around it should be okay for you as well. Try not to use your phone while walking around especially at night. Colombia is no worse than other countries or certain US cities. If you use common sense, you should be fine. Latbear4blk and vinapu 2 Quote
