The train is a good idea however it can also depend on the time of day or night as well, I find it annoying when people get on packed trains at rush hour and they have to try and squeeze their luggage in as well. Which is why I don't take the train from the airport, the time my flight gets in and I get through immigration and customs the trains are packed full, I guess it would be different if I got in around midday. Sure some people only take carry on with them when they fly but most don't.

I see this in Sydney too, people going to airport with luggage getting on during the afternoon peak hour 5pm , 😳😳

And now with the Perth rail link to the international airport I imagine it could well happen here too

In meantime I arrived at Don Muang this afternoon  and there were no immigration lines at all !

Don Muang is primarily for domestic and low costs international flights it should be less crowded than Suvarnabhumi.

Maybe quick out of the airport, but an extra hour or more to get to Pattaya. No thanks!

No, simply immigration lines were properly staffed

If price of flight is much lower , why not?

That’s a different matter.
It would have to be a massive saving to be worth going through Bangkok traffic if travelling to Pattaya...and if after a 10 hour flight.
