Guest buckeroo2 Posted February 23, 2009 Posted February 23, 2009 I walked around the Sunee area this afternoon and noticed that the soi that in perpendicular to White Knight restaurant where Club 69 used to be loacted is closed for a street party. They have both ends of the soi blocked. I counted 28 round tables set up in the street with a couple of pigs skewered and ready for roasting. I imagine it is a private party but guys who usually use this soi to get to Sunee may have to find an alternative route. When I walked through they were also erecting a performance stage and an audio system. Quote

I was walking by in the afternoon when they were setting up for the evening's festivities - There was a smallish Thai open air restuarnat that had a few balloons hanging about. I did not go back in the evening. Quote
Guest lester1 Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 The soi mentioned is a bustling and quite benign thoroughfare during the day but at night takes on a different atmosphere. Diners at Whitenight enjoy watching the drug deals go down early evening so the street party will cause this to find a new venue. Later at night, once the shop houses have shut down, you do see the occasional brave farang making his way either home or to the ATM outside the nearby Family Mart. I would imagine its a high risk area to be mugged in. Anyway, lets hope the street party goel well. Is the gogo bar down there on he left still open? Quote

Wow, it is as if we are talking about two different sois. I have been on this small soi dozens of times both day and night and would not clasify it as a "high risk area to be mugged in." A year or two back, I saw drug deals go down, but nothing of late. Maybe I have my blinders on, but in my book it is a safe place to walk. The go go bar, 69 Club has closed. Quote

With glasses like those, Monkey See, it is no wonder you have not seen the danger there late at night. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted February 26, 2009 Posted February 26, 2009 69 Club has closed. Had to be one of my least favorite bars in Pattaya. Just not my "type". Heard the boys moved to Holiday 2 Bar on Soi VC. Soi Yaba would make a good movie set. I suppose there are safer places to walk but IMO the danger is more illusionary than real. But it's a route that I seldom use.prefering to take Soi VC to the end. Quote

I have never see drug use and barely ever see anyone except at the restuarants located here. And yes, I see some of the guys from Club 69 now working at Hoilday Bar - both really sleazy haunts - I just want to install a shower for the boys. Quote

I know a guy that was mugged on Soi 17 close to soi Holloywood, a very busy area. Crime can happen anywhere. I have no fear of going down soi Yabba anytime day or night. Quote

You might not see drug use, but if you keep your eyes open, and I wouldn't advise it, you will see a constant stream of drug deals going down. When you walk down this Soi, please do so with care. I do hope the force is with me. I am also hopeful that Scotty can beam me up, if needed. I think you need to be careful on any soi you walk, not only potential muggers but cars and motorbikes. Some of those crazy drunk tourists on a bike can be deadly. I have seen drug deals go down on the corner of soi VC and Yensabai, but does not mean I am going to avoid that street. It is wise to always be aware of your surroundings. Quote
