Popular Post reader Posted October 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2022 I was walking along the Road New Twlight bar is on when three guys stationed by the side of road approached me. “Many new boys, come see”. They gestured toward what at one time formed the lead in the trifecta of sleaze—Super A, Golden Cock and Nature Boy. Sleaze. Really hadn’t seen much signs of it since returning so as the whore monger that inhabits all of us here I felt duty bound to check it out. Stepping through the door of Super A was like time travel, returning to my last visit over a dozen years prior. It was discomforting to see how nothing had changed: sofas to the right, tiny stage to the left and bar in back. Two customers were sitting with guys. I sat down in the unoccupied sofa and order a beer (200). Soon the show, more of a lineup actually, got under way. One guy stood on the stage and moved his arms slightly from side to side. Seven boys in street clothes stood to his right doing nothing, all with the look, “what am I doing here.” The same thought crossed my mind but I cautioned myself to give it a chance. Four or five minutes passed and nothing changed. The mamasan signaled to everyone to sit down. That prompted me to pay my tab and make for the door behind an Asian customer toting his bottle of beer. If I felt anything as I walked away it was sympathy for those who made up the ragtag crew whose vacant expressions spoke volumes. It can be challenging to get a new bar up and running, and sometimes too much of a one. But never under estimate the sleaze factor to prevail in the end. t0oL1, stijntje, VancBCMan and 14 others 17 Quote

They didn’t appear necessarily skinny or necessarily muscled. A few wore jackets. Best useful term that comes to mind is boys next door, one of who looked too young to drive. vinapu, vaughn, GWMinUS and 1 other 1 1 1 1 Quote
Popular Post vinapu Posted October 12, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 12, 2022 jackets? they had snow in that soi or what? But for 200 / drink I'd be tempted to check. I offed one boy from there over years but he was good enough so I repeated the feast day or two later so generally have good memories from there. Once me and ChristianPFC were stuck there during deluge so at least it was roof over their heads and pretext to do some body serach of guys seating with us aussie_, Ryanqqq, TMax and 5 others 5 3 Quote

Londoner Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 Super A was the first bar I left without finishing- or even starting- my drink. It was 1997 and my first ever visit to Bangkok. In those days, if memory serves, it was upstairs, above its later location. At the signal from the mamasan , as I sat down-the only customer- the guys, about twenty of them, removed their briefs and started pleasuring themselves. They were doing it for me, for me alone. Embarrassingly, I was the centre of attention. It was all too much for an innocent newbie such as me and so I made my excuses and left. TMax and dscrtsldnbi 2 Quote

For some years in its pre-covid incarnation it had moved to ground level and was virtually identical to @reader's description. In fact @reader's description almost exactly fits my memory of visiting several years ago. Sofas which looked as they accommodated far more bugs than those who sat on them. Three boys on a stage, almost always fully dressed, and making little or no movement. A few others fully dressed sitting on bar stools on the right of the stage eyes glued to their phones and a few to the left on other sofas eyes also glued to phones. If you decided any of the boys was worth a drink, he would come and sit beside you. Little or no conversation but jeans might come off and he would sit in shorts. He would not object to a bit of hanky panky. Occasionally a dick would appear especially if a second drink was purchased. At least drinks were not expensive. But not one of the boys looked as though they either wanted to be there or enjoyed being there. Certainly, providing enjoyment for customers seemed very far from their minds. Nature Boys and the now dead Golden Cock were a lot more fun for those looking for sleaze. reader, TMax, BL8gPt and 2 others 5 Quote

Other than that your recollections are spot on. 6 hours ago, TMax said: I never had the pleasure or displeasure of visiting Super A but talking of sleaze, I am hoping that since Golden Cock has moved to Nature Boy that the sleaze element is still there? fedssocr Posted October 14, 2022 Posted October 14, 2022 I went to Super A once or twice a million years ago. I seem to recall easily feeling the springs of those sofas poking me in the behind. Quote

Londoner Posted October 17, 2022 Posted October 17, 2022 Wasn't there a bar opposite, with the same ownership, back in prehistoric times? I recall it being considered even more sleazy than Super A in my Thai Scene gay guide circa 1997. Quote
Popular Post floridarob Posted October 17, 2022 Popular Post Posted October 17, 2022 I arrived BKK today from Pattaya, staying at the Tarntawan and went near Super A to do laundry. While I was waiting outside the laundry place, the Mamasan (owner??) screamed when you saw me , I have that affect on people, she offered me a water and said she's only been open 2 weeks now. I finished late with my friend from NYC and didn't realize everything was closing at 1am....so I walked to Super A, they were closed also....but guess who was open....Golden Cock/Nature boys. Just a fraction of it's former self, but they stay open until whenever.....with locals and other working boys stopping by, I'm told. There was a guy I went with before COVID, had a couple of drinks and he came back to my hotel.....I like the sleeze bars more than Dreamboys ....and places like that. The guys are more appreciative and really work for their money 😉 a-447, BiggusDikkus, vinapu and 8 others 11 Quote

I believe its name was Super Lek. But there was also a far larger bar at the end of that soi that was still going in the mid-2000s and I cannot remember its name. Perhaps that was Super Lek. Quote

Yes that was Super Lek. It was a larger Show Bar with a stage. And many handsome young guys!! I was taken there on my first trip back in 2003 by a German friend. We both found dates for the Night and several days after... AHHHH the Memories. Ryanqqq 1 Quote
Londoner Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I remember Super Lek but it was farther along the soi and , as GWminUS says, had shows. The one that Michael Notcutt, the estimable author of Thai Scene mentions was directly opposite Super A and was under the same management. I suspect that it was long gone by 2003. Quote
colmx Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 There was a bar called Khun Sweet Cigar? 1 hour ago, Londoner said: The one that Michael Notcutt, the estimable author of Thai Scene mentions was directly opposite Super A and was under the same management. Londoner Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 There was indeed; and a guy there has the honour of being the first ever Bangkok guy that I offed. The bar was in the soi leading to Super Lek....I think. Surely there must be an old-timer or two who can inform me as to what the bar directly opposite Super A was called?. A further memory. I bought the Michael Nottcut guide in 1995 for my first visit to Thailand. The sleazy bar was given a detailed description. About three or four later an up-dated version was published which I still have. The bar in question is not mentioned. Quote
Londoner Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 AKA Khun Bar. I think it had dropped the "sweet cigar" title. Perhaps a response to Bill Clinton's (alleged) proclivities. I suspect this subject may be boring some readers and so, as a final comment dragged unwillingly from memory, I recall that the name of the bar in question was related to that of Super A. You know, like Super B...... Quote
