Just arrived in Pattaya- Restaurant recommendations ??

I just got in, 28 hrs door to door from NYC, in Business class and I'm going to sleep before going out...it's only 3pm. Not sure how some guys have so much energy after landing.

A friend from NYC is coming in a couple of days and he wants to go to some nicer restaurants while he is here....I know there have been discussions about BKK, don't recall any about Pattaya restaurants.

Money is of no concern....for him, Dick's café or McDonald's is splurging for me 🙄

Can be French, Thai, Italian...whatever type of place.

If money is no concern IMO Cafe Des Amis is far and away the best restaurant in Pattaya

Less expensive with an atmosphere I really like is Au Bon Coin which isn't open every day

Business class sucks all your energy ?

I , for one, am always very energized by fact of arriving in Thailand so first day is rarely problem but price must be paid by my body . Third day is usually one when jet lag hits me the hardest

if it's his first time , apart from fancy places show him street food stalls near Tukcom, I always see them as very picturesque , specially in the evening.

If you're willing to do a little trekking, I highly recommend:

1.  iO Italian Osteria Pattaya - in Terminal 21

2.  Suggestions - on "The Dark Side"

3.  Any of the restaurants at the high end hotels

4.  Sands Cafe - Jomtien at Pratumnak

5.  L'Auberge - Third Road

It won't be very expensive getting to and from if you use BOLT.

It’s like Uber or Lyft - app based transportation and food delivery service, based in Estonia. This is what the logo looks like:

 

I guess it’s as safe as Grab, which is a Singapore-based counterpart of Bolt, prevalent in Southeast Asia.

All the previous suggestions are years old. There are some fantastic places to eat if you will pay for it. Des Amis is what it is. No tourist will eat there every night.

Usually at hotel rstrnts, quality is less and price is more....

The Sky Gallery - The view really makes this place, the food is pretty good as well

Cafe des Amis - I haven't been here but it is apparently pretty good

Pupen - This is my favorite Thai seafood restaurant, very good selection of dishes and a nice atmosphere

OK, he just informed me he's looking for Thai, Laos type restaurants ....he said why would he come to Thailand for mediocre French food in lol (he travels to Paris a lot I guess)

Thanks for all the suggestions, I'll see if I can convince him to try one of the places anyway 🙄

I just moved to Jomtien from Europe as a new retiree.

BOLT is an easy to use transportation app.  It amalgamates various transportation options and displays them to you.

You open it up and it displays where you currently are and then you just type in where you want to go and then it displays the prices for the various types of available transportation methodologies and their related price.

In the below example I was shown 3 options:

Economy - usually relates to a private person's personal car,

Taxi - is a bonafide Taxi - I choose this option when I am returning from a shopping trip - like to Tukcom, Big C, HomePro, etc. and I need space to carry all of the goods that I just bought for my new flat. The genuine taxis, especially the yellow/blue ones tend to be very large with lots of storage space.

Motor - a motorbike taxi.  This option tends to be the cheapest and most adventurous.

BOLT is very popular in Budapest - where I moved from - but in Hungary - there are many payment options - such as from your personal bank account, credit/debit card, or cash.  Unfortunately, the BOLT that exists here in Pattaya/Jomtien only has the CASH option for payment - so keep some100 note bills around for payment.

You guessed right.  It is perfectly safe.  People without their own transportation, including the boys, use Bolt regularly.  I have neither seen nor heard about any problems.

but with restaurants  ambiance and style often doesn't correspond to quality of food,  shabby looking places often serve delicacies and shiny places with army of servers  at times serve bettered version of Styrofoam with rice.

When picking up the place  priorities need to be set
