Pattaya's New Floating Market

The new floating market just south of Pattaya on Sukhumvit Road is worth a visit. It is about half way between Jomtien and Alankarn on the left side opposite Dinosaur Adventure. I would suggest going in the evening to avoid the sun. It is open from 1000 to 2300. No admission charge. Free parking. Here are a few pics I took:

The pictures are great. How does this work? It looks like you walk to different docks and then boats pull over to sell different things to eat.

I have driven by on Sukhumvit Road and have seen many cars parked.

Is there a fee to enter?

No fee to enter, and when I was there, live music as well. The Village, as it is called also includes 2 floors of shopping, though only the first floor had filled stores, and shortly will have a Supermarket as well.

A great addition to South Jomtien.

The Village, as it is called

I think you are confusing The Village and the Floating Market. Those are two separate facilities at two separate locations. The Floating Market is a few miles south of The Village.

Actually, I'm somewhat surprised to see that the Floating Market may be worth a visit. I would have thought it would have had "tourist trap" written all over it. I'm glad to know that it doesn't. I wasn't going to bother with it at all. Now I think I'll stop by after all.

You are right, the Floating Market is on the opposite of the road from The Village.

It really isn't a tourist trap in that there is no entrance fee and the parking is free. We, mistakenly, went during the day and the parking attendant even covered our windshield with a cloth to block the sun.. He didn't hang around as if looking for a tip when we were leaving. I had given a different attendant a tip when we parked.

There are lots of stalls selling things and many food stalls selling food from the various areas in Thailand. I had a bowl of kao soi which is a Chiang Mai curried noodle dish. It was a nice lunch size portion for 35 baht. I also had a deep fried ice cream for 15 baht. I wouldn't call that a tourist trap. There isn't the same pushiness about getting you to buy as in many souvenir shopping areas. We enjoyed looking at the various things for sale. The majority of the people there were Asia; I think Thai.
