Another trip report, this time from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico

Did you make it to Los Amigos bar....That's where I had the most fun and the guys are more "humble" (cheaper) ...but it's been awhile since I've been there.

Maybe when we meet up in Thailand, we can make plans to meet in Mexico, being with someone that can translate/negotiate might give you a different opinion of the country....same for Brazil 😉

Reading the posts with interest. Having been only to CDMX, admittedly a few years ago, but the price levels indicated above certainly don't make me want to go back.

I wonder, why you (US readers) bother with attitude guys, hotels with joiners fees and those inflated price levels in PV when you can travel to Colombia and have it all for far less? I reckon the distance/flight time is about the same, and Cartagena or Santa Marta seem similar to PV (but obviously not with such an outspoken gay scene as in PV).

no, I did not even see that bar,  not being aware about it's existence . I wonder where it could be ?.

Gladly meet up with you . I'm of good opinion about Mexico. only annoying part was pestering by  hawkers and being called ' amigo' at every turn.

As for prices, I know that as newbie one must pay premium until gets a grab of the land. I treated it just as cost of survey and had fun in process.

Perhaps because we less familiar  with an option and not brave enough to try ?

We may also wonder if it will be possible to walk from bar to hotel  at 2 am undisturbed ? But who knows? may be one day?

that’s a great question - I started visiting PV about 20 years ago while living in California.  From there it was an easy & relatively cheap nonstop flight and there was no circuit scene.  It did not compare to Brazil or Columbia even back then.  Now, from East Coast US, there are few nonstop flights (I actually think there are zero from NYC or Miami) which means a very long day of travel w at least one-stop ( Dallas usually) and relatively expensive flights.  I still go bc the it’s got a unique feeling and incredibly beautiful - but it’s more a vacation with friends that want to party a bit.  I don’t go to PV hunting or sex.  It’s actually much faster to get to Rio, SP or anywhere in Columbia from Miami. Columbia is inexpensive nonstop flights always, Brazil flights remains pricey for whatever reason.  When hunting, Brazil is my “go-to” for too many reasons to list here.

Travel experiences are subjective with pros/cons to each destination.  I’d go back to PV in a minute. Same with Cabo San Lucas.  CDMX is on my short-term bucket list and that trip will be about experiencing one of the worlds great cities….hunting would only come into the picture if there was free time & it was easy.  That’s why I like Brazil for hunting as primary destination - it’s easy and there’s an entire industry built to make it that way. What can I say - I’m lazy that way.

PV does get some Europeans, but seems to be younger guys interested in circuit scene developed in recent years. Otherwise, majority of visitors are American with many from West Coast. It’s all about ease of access to get there & what your primary interest is in that destination.

In the reverse situation, anybody living West Coast US will experience very long days of travel with no nonstops to Colombia or Brazil. So, ease of access one again comes into play.

you’re right - I think it was autofill thing.  Weird bc it was correctly spelled in last reference.  I know it’s a trigger for some ;)

I used to go to PV every couple of years, but haven't been there for past 7-8 yrs. Rather visit other places.

When there, went to some of clubs, including Anthropology. There were 3 that had go-go dancers at that time. I actually liked the other 2 more than Anthropology.

After reading on this forum about how much folks here like Colombia and Brazil, I am planning to go there in Sept/Oct next year.

End of this year/early next year, I'll be travelling to countries in N and E Africa and then head over to BKK for about 12 days in Feb. Looking fwd to both trips!

From your trip reports over the past few months, seems like you had lots of fun in Thailand (with lots of boys too) and in PV.

Indeed, I should be the one using the phrase "some people have all the fun"! 😊

Just by sheer chance saw your name on the listing so read this report. Wow-thats a lot of holidays in a short time. Have also been to MX-3 times (very 1st only a short 2 days out of Texas) but never been here. Have (same series as that TMOT books) also still a kind of insiders ´gay guide´ for MX-also describing this Pacific Ocean resort, most of it (as I remember now) on the strip/´gogo´ etc. bar scene in MX-city/ciudade/DF.

All in all I kind of tend to think now this was also very much possible in some Espanol resorts or on Canarias. No MXP=peso, but hard €.

Also muchas gracias to slovakguy (actually I now sit in PL pretty close to SK) for his additions. THai massage (and with some Thai text, so probably real and not fake-VNese) is here too. But it will not entice me to go to PV.

Were all those guys also Mexicano? Or do they also have an influx from the poorer Latino-countries?

How are bar times? I for myself do not like that all-night fun time-am a very early riser and somehow that Spanish rhythm of the day never really catches me on (siesta, dinner at 22.00, after that only bars get barely going etc.).

yes , almost all guys I met were Mexican, I actually asked them what cities they are from. Exception is boy 'Second" who was Colombian from Cali for whom escorting was just a side job according to what he told me

only club I went, Anthropology ( other two were temporarily closed) opened around 10 and there were patrons from that time but started being crowded from  like 11.30 pm .

Evem heavy rain one night did not stop people, including me from coming

Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds 😀

Massage is invariably started from upper  back , opposite to way practised in Thailand. In comparison to Thai massages guys in PV seem to be better trained and coverage is also better but under pressured. I like my massages strong and only one , my last,  was strong enough. Perhaps those biggish guys were afraid to crush KFC man?

Interesting. That sounds very much like Bali: that's the way they do massage there, in my experience (much better trained than in Thailand and always start from the upper back and remain fully dressed for the duration). They also tend to apply light pressure first (saving the energy for the day, I presume) but if and when asked (i.e. always - as I do like my massage to be very strong) they oblige.
