12is12 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 Hi Guys, Flying Pattaya- KohSamui, which airport is better, U-Tapao/Pattaya or BKK ? Quote
Mateo_37 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 I think its pretty similiar: U-Tapao around 800 Baht and 1 hour+ driving BKK around 1000 Baht and 1,5 hour driving I would choose the more convenient flights. vaughn and vinapu 2 Quote
Londoner Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 This is what P and I did preparing for our November visit to Chiang Mai. The flights from CNX to BKK are plentiful but to U-Tapao, not so. It may have been worth it before Suvanbharmi was built....that extra ninety minutes from Dom Muang to Pattaya were unpleasant. Quote

emiel1981 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 I liked flying on U-Tapao Airport for Pattaya. Its a small airport so before you know it you already have your luggage and are in your taxi on the way to Pattaya. As in BKK, with the long distance you might have to walk from plane to baggage belt and sometimes the waiting time for luggage to come... But off course the main thing will be flight days and times. Choose what's most convenient for you as flights to U-Tapao are limited. Quote
Boy69 Posted September 12, 2022 Posted September 12, 2022 The risk is that the number of flights, to U-Tapao it's limited in case of over booking or flight cancelation you are in trouble from BKK there's plenty of flight alternatives and it's easier for the airline to find you a solution. vaughn 1 Quote
pong2 Posted September 14, 2022 Posted September 14, 2022 With current still pretty low nrs I think (thats some experience from yrs ago working next to the travel biz) that ´consolidations´=airline speak for cancellations, due to low nr of bookings are more a risk at UTP. Its all BKK-air to Samui, small planes (for those who do dislike it: mostly turboprop, no real jet) and its TH after crisis so nothing will move when they feel it makes a loss. Perhaps when hi-season really swings back in this is less of an issue. Many of these flights in fact rely on travel agencies sending out large enough groups to fill most of that plane Quote
