I do, but I wanted to seek a second opinion and that was a large medical centre, but that young Egyptian doctor turned out actually good.

He gave me yesterday every test ,and I think he was right about glandular fever as the medication he gave me seems to be working.

Never have I heard about this Glandular fever ..it's called Epstein Barr virus ...how did I get this if I have it ????

I will still pay the (forced no other option) $500 to see a throat specialist next week though just to make sure it's not HPV lurking in my throat,I can't afford $500 that's half the airfare to Thailand but I have no choice ,do you guy really think I want to pay some rich doctor $500 to choke me with a camera for 5 minutes,I have no other option,I could go in a public waiting list for the next year or so and wait for it under the public health system where it could be HPV in my throat and it would of spread so I have to pay a private doctor .😟

a normal GP cannot put a camera down my throat so I'm forced to pay a specialist , I don't want to I could use that money for other things !!!😣😣

I remember him posting he had sore throat etc then it spread to his back and neck., He was getting treatment but apparently it was too late

the GP I saw yesterday a young guy on exchange from Egypt was great,he seemed to know or think it was Glandular fever and gave me this medication called Cilicaine VK which seems to have helped my throat .

I'm going to have to do things a bit different when going to Thailand

Two minutes on Google would tell you what's in them.

They are alkyl nitrites. Used medicinally they are a treatment for angina. Some are safer than others, but when they are mislabelled as leather cleaner, who knows what's in them?

The "leather cleaner" nonsense is part of the pretence that they are not for human consumption and therefore not subject to medicines legislation.

I think you’re getting good advice from the members here. If you were on another gay board you would be given a harder time, and maybe even be accused of being a troll.

im real sorry to mention this, and I assume you’re very sincere. I really want you to get the proper treatment. Please don’t worry about hpv, it takes years to develop and Epstein bar is very common. I believe it’s related to herpes. Many have it and don’t know it or have no symptoms. I would like to think that in the future you’ll be more cautious and try to stick to the same boys. I know it’s tempting to be very promiscuous, I am at times also. Now we possibly have Monkey virus to worry about, so be extra vigilant,lol. Sorry to sound like a Debby downer.

Although some may find this discussion distasteful, it's proving to be an education.

Better we become aware of the risks before we acquire an infection, particularly at at time when more re-emerging diseases are making themselves known.

As mentioned above, we don't have to become hermits and refrain from all activities. It's a matter of making sensible choices.

I've been keeping in touch with a massage worker from BKK since my last trip. He tells me that he and his mates are very much aware of monkeypox and its symptoms. They've become adept at scanning clients for signs as they undress in the room. Fortunately none have yet to be spotted.

Glandular fever/Epstein Barr virus can easily be spread through a carrier handling food like salad which you then eat. The difference between this and covid is, I believe, the possibility that glandular fever often has a slight effect on the liver. In a serious case, this can result in jaundice and a slight yellowing of the whites of the eyes. The good thing is that a great many people all around the world get glandular fever in their late teens/early 20s, are virtually unaware of it and it then becomes inactive in the body. I believe it is rare for it then to reappear in one's later life.

The major problem is that the period between infection and symptoms being felt is measured in weeks. During this time the infected person can easily infect others. The virus is present in saliva and so kissing an infected person will almost certainly transmit the virus to you. But as with all illnesses, this information should be checked with a recognised medical professional.

As for poppers, I have never used them but as I travel regularly I have occasionally brought them in for friends. When I have done so, I usually try to strip the labelling off the bottle and then either put it in my toiletries bag or stuff it into a shoe along with some dirty socks!

I'm not sure if you can get it if you already have HPV ,I'm not sure if it's any beneficial.

I am now 110kg but I used to live weights everyday ( up till last month when I got sick )

I will ask the HPV specialist when I see him this week whether it's still works if you already have it.

They say 95% of  anal cancers are caused by HPV and so many throat cancers .

It's best to get the anal swabs every year ,I know it's embarrassing but better to be safe
