Sorry for the digressing question:

When you fortunate and generous guys take these lads for a good time, which obviously includes much verbal interaction;

Do u speak Thai? Do they speak English? Or all use ggl-trnslt?

I also wld like to transcend the sex time, but I really dont like ggl conversations.....

For once in this thread I have to agree with z909.

He'll troll you to forever if he catches you paying above scale.

If you can find one example of me trolling someone forever or criticizing them for over tipping, post a link as evidence.

Otherwise your post would look like a continuation of your dishonest personal attack.

I don't have deep conversation with them about the sex life of ants on Africa...it's usually where U come from? Etc

Olddaddy,

Chitchats like "where u come from?" R good for a couple of mnts b4 or after sex.

My question referred to spending hours with them, for example at a beach.

Last week I took 4 bar lads to Koh Larn

This is high on my bucket list of things that I want to do.

May I ask, how did you organize this?  via the mammasan?  or you asked one of the bar lads and then he asked 3 of his bar lad friends to join you?  Logistically, did you take the ferry and then spend the night in a hotel on Koh Larn?

I asked one of the lads, who I had met on a previous trip, and he suggested some of his friends who I had met at the bar. I offered 3000 to divide amongst them as well as paying for everything. I paid 1200bt return for the shared speedboat which had another seven Asian customers (so 240bt each person) and takes about 15 minutes. The lads suggested getting the Songtheao to Tien beach, which is quieter and less touristy than the busy beach the boat arrived at. I thought that was a good move as I liked the quieter Tien beach. Lunch under beach umbrellas with very reasonable jetski price for any of our group who wanted that. When booking the speedboat, which is just walk on to the pier at Pattaya and talk to speedboat companies, one specifies a return time. So a pleasant afternoon out. I don't know about overnighting there.

Most bar lads speak more English than I speak Thai but even limited Thai goes a long way, I think. Google translate for when it's really needed.

Remember, they are professionals, getting the same for a short time appointment as Totally Oz pays his doctor.  [Which is also equivalent to 2x Thai daily GDP per capita or about 5 x the minimum wage.      All of which add up to the approximately same amount of money, when people get around to doing the maths].

We're all pretty happy tipping at that level.

In return, you usually get professional service, and just like when Totally Oz goes to his doctor, they usually speak enough English to ply their trade.

[Apologies if Totally Oz conducts his doctors appointments in Thai]

I guess my easily over 2,000 visits to Sunee Plaza is an understanding without practical knowledge? :) Not quite! Admittedly, I have not been there but 5 times in last two years, but I still think I have ample practical knowledge.

My high falutin idea is to pay for services rendered and to pay a good amount commensurate with that service.

Sorry Oz, maybe I worded it badly.  I was referring to posters OTHER than you.
I respect your opinion completely.   AND am jealous of your 2000+ visits.

I don't equate either to the Thai minimum wage as they are both professionals. I think that may where we diverge in our opinions? I view escorts are professionals and not minimum wage workers.

Whatever gives you the idea that I equate them ?

At several times in this post I've referred to multiples of the minimum wage.    A multiple is not equating.

If minimum wage = 330 baht, then 3~6 times is 1000~2000 baht.    The lower figure being precisely what you recommended tipping in Winner boys.

This is like trying to throw somebody under the bus for paying with 2 purple notes instead of 1 brown one.      Both are the same.

The attached link has a study showing working time to earn a Big Mac per city.     The authors of that don't equate the people working to Big Macs.     It's just a metric to show their relative earning power, country by country.

Same same, but probably still too difficult for people who skim posts before commenting.

You could compare money boy rates v minimum wage, the cost of a big mac, average GDP per capita or what your doctor earns.

None of it is passing comment on what they should earn, it's just a metric for comparing international earning power.    I introduced the matter on the first page of this thread precisely as an international comparison.

I guess say if you lived here (expat) in Pattaya say on a "mature aged pension"  (sounds PC, rather than say old age pension😂) then it would be a bit difficult paying those sort of prices all the time .

Having said this, I have not seen the rates in Thailand go up much in 20 years. To me, that is sad and thus why I continue to gift additional money

Of the many good points in the @TotallyOz post, I think this is one most of us rarely think of.  In 1979 I gladly tipped 500 baht short time and it always seemed equally gladly received. That was then worth US$20 and seemed to be the general rate.

The inflation rate in Thailand in the following two years was pretty horrendous - in 1980 was 24.56% and in 1981 10.32%, but my 500 baht tips did not increase. In fact, I don't think I increased it to 1,000 baht till around 1990. After the Asian Economic Recession in 1997 it moved up to 1,500 and then later 2,000.

Between that first visit in 1979 and the start of 2020 prices in Thailand have increased 361.7%. The value of my 500 baht is now 2,308.69 baht. But core consumer prices are now once again in a period of inflation. Inflation in July alone was 7.6% higher than the same month last year with food prices showing the highest increase.

So if the working boys looked at offical rates (which I agree is unlikely), either I was overpaying in 1979/1980 or I should be considering a short time rate of at least 2,500 baht by the end of this year. At today's rate, that would still amount to less than US$69.

So when considering any form of comparison, I sggest the above should not be disregarded.

I don't agree with the suggested going rates @TotallyOz but I do agree that trying to build mathematical formula to how much paying boys is useless,  ln reality it's a negotiating between you and the boy and the deal is closed when both sides agreed to the fee, also there are subjective factors as @TotallyOz advised like you are ready to pay more or give gifts if you really liked the boy and there is nothing wrong about it, it's really  none of anyone's business if a client want to do it , I personally declined immediately if a boy quoting very high rate even if I want him badly but if I have a good experience with a boy I don't mind to tip him generously or buying him a gift, it's really depends on certain situation and the chemistry between us this is why I believe there is no point trying to create a formula how much we should pay.

3) what is the regular rate for that ?

Thanks in advance

So, I have come up with a new acceptable price for Thailand. It is hereby decreed:

Bangkok Short time - 3,000 baht

Pattaya Short time - 2,000 baht plus taxi

Bar Blow Jobs - 1,000 baht minimum

Bar Hand Jobs - 999 baht

Deep Kissing - 888 baht

If no change, please tip upwards.

Effective July 24, 2022 onward.

The Wisdom of Solomon could render no more fair levy. However, I have one tiny suggestion: I believe deep kissing should be 999 baht and bar hand job 888 baht. Aside from that it should be posted in bars and clubs throughout the applicable jurisdictions. 😉

Although Jupiter is a celestial destination, it remains accessible only through Soi 4. Consequently it falls within aforementioned jurisdiction. Therefore, above levies apply.

There's no need to seek mediation or interpretation from mamasan because the decree rises above their authority in such matters. Mamasans will continue to have authority in more temporal matters (i.e., where you will sit and what waiter gets assigned to your table.

Going forward, as the rule decrees, there are no more "regular" rates, only the new "acceptable" rates.
