Olddaddy Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Will be in Pattaya this week !!! You know reading another post about sleeping all day and partying all night just got me thinking . I used to do that say 20 years ago in Pattaya, sleeping all day and then hit the bars at night going to bed at around 4am . Fast forward 20 years now I'm nearly 60yo and I'm thinking this trip and being now a non drinker I won't be sleeping all day , my routine when I arrive will have to change . Questions is are you a early riser on your trip, or sleep all day ? Am I getting a old fart if I make my routine say midnight bed wake 8 or 9am😁, maybe that's too early , Londoner 1 Quote
Popular Post vinapu Posted June 18, 2022 Popular Post Posted June 18, 2022 I'm early riser for two reasons, first longer your day on vacation , longer your vacations are. Second, I usually have guy beside me and like some romantic exercises before going for a breakfast. I don't sleep during day unless jet lag forces me to , but even that will be 1-3 hours nap max. depending on companion or lack of him ( rarely ) I go to bed between 12 and 2 . While in civil life I'm party man in Thailand I prefer one on one encounters so partying till , say 3 or 5 is out of question. That's to answer question you had. Now advice you even did not ask for : Avoid any routine on vacation as after while it will be boring, catch the day and do what you feel like doing at the moment, vacations are not to be spent checking watch all the time. If you wake up at 4 am and feel like not sleeping , wake up and have early morning stroll, you will be surprised how different familiar streets are. If you feel like sleeping till noon, don't feel guilty you did even if you lost good chunk of vacation day. They did not give World Heritage designation to Foodland Patpong for nothing , you can have breakfast there at 2 pm as well as 2 am. Nearly 60 and old fart ? What KFC man should say ? Dead already 😄? splinter1949, Ruthrieston, Tartegogo and 5 others 7 1 Quote
Guest Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 Up at 8:30 am. Out of the door by 9:30 am. I'm in my mid 50s and was running a similar schedule in Pattaya when I was 40. Quote
Boy69 Posted June 18, 2022 Posted June 18, 2022 I was exactly as you 20 years ago but those days are gone wake up early and eating breakfast around 9 am like to visit beaches, sightseeing and shopping malls during the day and going to bars at nights come back to my room no later then 1 am. We are getting older what we did when we were young can't do anymore unfortunately Will7272 1 Quote
TMax Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 I'm awake early and head down for breakfast around 6am as I just can't sleep in, after breakfast it's off for a walk around Lumphini park and then back to hotel to freshen up and then head out for the day. I may have a rest mid to late afternoon and then head out for the evening at about 6pm, usually back at hotel by 11pm after having some short time fun (one or more short times, just depends on the night and mood). colmx Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Slept at 4am and woke at 13.00 when I first started coming to Thailand in the early 2000s Now still sleep at 4am and sleep till 14.00! Always a party to be found in Pattaya, even when closing time was allegedly 21.00! floridarob and Olddaddy 2 Quote
vaughn Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 I think I am more on par with the Thai boy sleep schedule in the mornings, often just trying to make it in time before the breakfast buffet closes at 10 am but if breakfast isn't included I won't be out of my room until at least 11 am. I have never been a morning person. Quote
Travellerdave Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 I don’t like staying out late - midnight maximum. In fact nightlife ceases at that time anyway. If a have a boy long time I will get up when he goes, then go out for a walk. Later have breakfast and then try and sleep a little more. Without boy the latest I arise would be about 9am. Quote
caeron Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 When I'm home, I often crawl into bed at 9pm. I usually play on the computer for a couple of hours, but not always. Getting old sucks. The alternative is worse, but it still sucks. Londoner and TMax 2 Quote
Boy69 Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 The main problem is if I and the boy staying with me have different time routine 4 years ago I had very beautiful 19 yo boy I met in Pattaya we planned to stay together all my vacation about a month but we have some issues and the main problem was that he didn't go to sleep before 3 am and won't get up before 4 pm I am not used to sleep so long hours ( max 7 hours) and wake up so late ( max 8 am) it didn't work between us and our ways separated after less then a week. Londoner Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 1995, first visit; up at 1000, bed at 0100. Now, up at 0730, bed at 2200. Sums up getting old. P is a farmer and so he's the same, fortunately. billyhouston and Olddaddy 2 Quote
macaroni21 Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 It's interesting to see how variable our routines are, and how they've shifted as one passes through the decades. Since, more often than not, my visits to Thailand are linked to work, my days in Bangkok have a different rhythm from the extra weekends that I manage to tack on in order to escape to Pattaya. In Bangkok my hours will largely be dictated by the needs of meetings, at least in the day, but it also means that I really cannot stay up late if I have appointments the following morning. It's no big loss; I am well past the age when I had any interest in dancing through the night. As will be obvious, doing sleepovers with an escort (a.k.a "long time") is also out of the question. Which is no great loss either. I've done that in the past and found little real value in it to compensate for the morning inconvenience when boy needs to sleep and I need to be up and out. When I manage to add some extra days in Pattaya, it is to escape Bangkok. My sleep pattern then changes. I catch up on sleep and may not rise till 10 or 11 am. After a cup of coffee, I will likely be off to spend the entire afternoon on the beach, reading a book and/or watching people. It's my alone-time. Brunch/lunch is also a light meal at the beach. In my view there's not much to do in Pattaya in the daytime anyway. That's fine for me. I am there to unwind. As evening approaches, I get busier. A massage as the sun goes down, then dinner, then I hit the bars and go hunting for a companion (short time). I see discussion in this forum about places like Dragon where the party doesn't peak till 3 or 4 am. That's not for me. Never really was -- and I've been to several of its predecessors. I am not a good drinker and I've always found the noise level too loud. Not my scene. So, even with a good lad from a gogo bar for short-time, I should be able to get into bed no later than 2 or 2:30 am. That would mean some 8 - 9 hours of sleep before the next day. Boy69 1 Quote

Serious very rarely I have that kind of problem and I have LT almost every night when there. And I'm rather early riser if only in order to catch that discounted breakfast at Foodland before 9 to save 16 baht ( 65 vs. 81) Even with that my problem seems to be reverse - boy wanting to leave too early which is always upsetting me ( 2 cases last trip ). For me long time is till breakfast whether he goes with me or not Quote

I started frequenting Thailand in my early twenties. Ate whatever I wanted, never exercised and did not sleep much. I was on vacation! Nowadays, I've been trying to keep the same routine as at home. I have much longer stays in Thailand mainly because I can work remotely. So most of the day, I stay inside and do work. It also saves me tons of time on applying sunscreen Also I stick to the gym for roughly 2 hours each day, usually in the afternoon (not weight lifting and heavy stuff, just running, push-up, sit-up, bar pulling to stay slim-fit) and may order an occasional massage after gym. My last stay in Poisedon was a disappointment (they claimed on Agoda they had a gym, but they didn't). Although the night life is what makes it different from home, I tend not to stay too late anymore. I don't do LT so if I have an ST, night usually ends around 1 or 2 am. The good news from this routine is that whenever I walk into Silom Soi 4 or Jomtien Complex, many, especially farangs, still think I'm a freelancer, looking for customers (the fact that I'm Asian and look very much so may contribute), just like years ago. vinapu and Boy69 2 Quote
Londoner Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 People must be fed-up with me referring to The Good Old Days ....but in one respect, they don't compare with what's on offer, at least in Pattaya, today. In the 90s, I found the time between breakfast and the bars opening quite tedious. A couple of hours on Jomtien beach- which never impressed me after holidaying in the Caribbean for a decade- and then....well, not much until the go go bars opened, never before 2100. No Sansuk. Only Royal Garden in which to cool-off and have a coffee. Not even a decent TV programme. And, no apps with which to engage a partner for the afternoon. I must be honest; Pattaya is now more of a twenty-four city than it was then. Boy69 1 Quote
flashbarryallen Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 During this trip in Pattaya, I've been traveling with a Thai friend from Bangkok. I had no idea how much traveling with him would alter my schedule, despite us being in different rooms (the best decision.) I would prefer to be up and at it before noon, but he routinely doesn't wake up until 1 or 2pm. He used to work in a bar, so that might be part of it. But I can say for certain, as much as I adore his friendship, I would not travel with him again. Even when I was sick and really needed medicine, it took him over an hour to get medicine despite 711 being right around the corner. Mind you, I'm actually paying for his room this trip and giving him 2000THB a day just for guide/driving/helping him out after losing his job to pandemic. Now that I'm feeling better, I'm adapting my schedule. Wonderful early afternoon off today with Grindr freelancer followed by lunch before my friend even woke up was a good adjustment to just waiting around for him However, local guy who is trying to sweep me off my feet has claimed me for tonight and all day tomorrow, so I will be following his schedule. Essentially, my Pattaya schedule has been completely chaotic and no day has been the same. vinapu and Boy69 2 Quote

The only reason I could manage this was the quality of guys available, but now that I've experienced the loudness of Dragon, it's a no go for me. The owner of Chill Changsha seems to have a relationship with Dragon in some way as many of the Dragon men are considered models at Chill, which means they can be booked for an extra fee, but worth it for me considering that Chill is more about conversation rather than partying. I'm already planning a Dragon Comes to Bangkok party night in my mind for my next trip. Quote

I have life long friends I'd never travel with unless on organized trip ( will happen in July) and also know people I don't have any social life with but can go for vacation with to even most difficult destination for any length of time. It seems that some people are not good with change of their daily routine . Your decision to rent him a separate room was wise one, this way each one of you have his freedoms. Few years ago I went for a cruise with two couples- my cousin and my friend with spouses. Knowing dangers right in the beginning we decided that even if going together each of us has own vacation and only time we should spent together will be dinner as it was pre-booked anyways. Greatest idea of all time and we actually spent more time together than we though, just because we did not feel any obligation for it. Quote
