Guest MonkeySee Posted February 11, 2009 Posted February 11, 2009 You think corruption is bad in Thailand, the US has it even worse. First, the governor of Illinois selling a senate seat and now Pennsylvania judges making million by sending kids to jail. Here is part of the article: WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – For years, the juvenile court system in Wilkes-Barre operated like a conveyor belt: Youngsters were brought before judges without a lawyer, given hearings that lasted only a minute or two, and then sent off to juvenile prison for months for minor offenses. The explanation, prosecutors say, was corruption on the bench. Prosecutors say Luzerne County Judges Mark Ciavarella and Michael Conahan took $2.6 million in payoffs to put juvenile offenders in lockups run by PA Child Care LLC and a sister company, Western PA Child Care LLC. The judges were charged on Jan. 26 and removed from the bench by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court shortly afterward. Ah, Bush and the Righties privatization scheme at it's best. This sort of behavior has shown it's ugly head every place they tried it. Especially with the private contractors in Iraq. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 You know, I think the solution to our economic crisis is to stop all the corrution, and use their money to solve our economic problems...and still probably have enough left over to feed the homelss of the world!!! Quote
Guest slackersam Posted February 12, 2009 Posted February 12, 2009 This is the private prison system investing in their economic future - since we all know that juvenille detention centers are essentially where problem kids learn how to be career criminals. Quote

Guest MonkeySee Posted February 16, 2009 Posted February 16, 2009 Police corruption in Thailand seems to be more than in the US or other western nations. Here is another news item. BANGKOK: -- Two police major generals are on the blacklist of copyright-violation suspects. Recently, it was leaked that the blacklist contains the names of 41 policemen. "I have yet to see the list but I've got a confirmed report that two police major generals' name appear on it," Royal Thai Police spokesman Lt General Watcharapol Prasarnratchakij said Thursday. He said fact-finding committees would be established to see how the accused policemen were involved in the copyright violations. "If there are evidence against them, they will face disciplinary as well as legal actions," Watcharapol said. -- The Nation 2009-02-12 Quote
KhorTose Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 But in the meantime until the Messiah or Jesus returns, or hell freezes over; universally, we will have to deal with corruption. HMMMMM let me see five letters in the name of Jesus and Obama. The third and the fifth letter are the same in both names. Both men were born of humble origins. One man had 12 advisors he called apostles the other had 15 advisors he calls cabinet members. Both came not to change the laws, but to bring new ways. Oh right, we may all be saved. Quote
