Saunas - Medellin

Hey guys,

I'm sure the information is here somewhere, but I just read through one thread and there's a lot of information about other parts of Colombia (and for some reason also Brazil).

I met another American on Grindr (BBC) and we're planning on exploring the saunas. I'm thinking Club 55 based on reviews. I'm a bottom, he's a top. We're not looking to pay. Any recommendations on best times to go? Or should we try another place?

Why do you want to explore a GP sauna if you are not looking for paid sex?

I don't know what a "GP sauna" is. Are saunas here unlike in the rest of the world? I'm used to going to saunas where you can hook up with people and not have to pay. I'm kind of confused by your answer.

I've been to MDE but don't recall any saunas of that type like there are in Brazil, apart form the couple that had "Massage" guys that would do extra.

Thanks. I'm just asking if anyone has been to Club 55. So far it sounds like no one has. I guess my question completely confused people. I have never been to Brazil, so I don't know what GP is, thanks for explaining.

My apologies, I misread your OP. For some reason, I understood you were talking about going to a GP sauna to have non paid sex. My wrong.

There are two kinds of saunas in Brazil. Regular saunas like the ones where you have been, and GP saunas. In the latter the only sex taking place is transactional. GP is acronym for Garoto de Programa, the way escorts are called in Brazil.

Thanks. I don't think my question was clear. I guess you do realize I'm in Medellin. I really was just looking for recommendations for saunas in Medellin for non-paid sex, and also asking about Club 55 if anyone had been there.

Maybe I can help here, I know a little bit about Medellin. 

Club 55 (Cl. 55 #45 - 44, Medellín) is very popular on the weekends with a younger crowd. There is an active maze, darkroom and steam room on the second floor.  The jacuzzi is a good place to get social, practice your spanish and have a drink while you get to know who is in the building (the main staircase is directly beside the jacuzzi (turco en español). They also have massage attendants until 7pm, but you say you are both uninterested in paying.  The attendants will hang out by the bar next to the pool when they are looking for customers.

I have been told that Sauna Cruising (Cra. 45d ##57-44, Medellín) is the hot new place that draws in the youngest and best looking crowd.  The facility is just 2 years old and easy to get to on public transport, just off the main street of Avenida Oriental.

The Thermas Sauna club (Cl. 57 #43 21, Medellín) is an old school sauna just down the street from Sauna Cruising that many locals swear is the best place for hot sex and little posing.

El Castillo Sauna (Cra. 45d #59-63, Medellín) is a new establishment that has the advantage of staying open later than most.

Finally, if you are comfortable with your language skills and navigating the city, the Glass VIP sauna in Bello (metro station Madera) is very popular and busy on the weekends. You will see many faces that will never appear in El Poblado or Laureles and you will get a very authentic Medellin experience.

Thank you! This was very helpful. The more I thought about it, I am feeling less inclined to go to a sauna. First off, we're still fighting COVID and the last thing I want to happen is to test positive before I'm getting ready to leave and find myself stuck here for an extra two weeks.

But secondly, I met a really hot guy who I've been seeing regularly, and when I can't see him, I'm able to meet people like Angelo and fulfill my fantasies. As far as meeting people, I have conversation exchange partners who I'm developing platonic friendships with. Going to a sauna seems like a lot of work for me right now and also too risky given our current situation.

One question though - on Grindr, it seem that there are a lot of guys who are attracted to "maduros". I don't know if this is because they expect to get paid or if it's really an attraction. Some are obviously escorts, but the others, I can't tell. I am wondering if older guys can actually have fun at the saunas, or would it be like in the states, where you're treated as a pariah?

I know it is a bit late but to answer your question, older and less fit men are more than welcome in the saunas in Colombia, including Club 55. There will be other similar men there.

However, if you go there and expect young handsome gym fit guys to line up to have sex with you, you will be disappointed. The saunas work as in most other countries. The young guys and muscle/gym fit models will be looking for fun with similar guys; that is my experience based on visits to several saunas in Cali, Pereira and Meddelin last month, including Club 55. I'm not saying that older or less fit guys will not have any luck (I noticed some younger lean and obvious bottom guys interested in manly daddy types) or can't have a good time there, but it is important to understand that the guys don't go there for work/to earn a salary and if there are attractive young or fit guys prepared to join them in the cabins for fun why bother with older and less fit guys (or in general less attractive guys)?

Of course, you can try to strike up a conversation (but most will only speak Spanish) and discreetly suggest some kind of remuneration to see if that yields what you are looking for; but there is def. no guarantee for a postive outcome (most likely many guys will decline such offer). Alternatively, ask for their Instagram or Whatsapp and approach them afterwards (in Spanish) to see if there is a mutual interest.

If there is no luck you can always look for a massage guy of your liking in the sauna; guaranteed sex if that is what you are looking for. I had a nice massage with extras (sex) with a nice young lad in Phisicus 21 sauna in Cali for 100 mil; 50 mil for the massage and add. 50 mil for sex seems to the standard price in saunas in Cali and Pereira; I have no experience in Medellin but it might be slightly higher).

Regardless of the above, I suggest to visit the saunas (in particular on weekends where they are busy) as it is a nice experience (even if you don't have sex there) and reasonably priced (entry in Cali and Pereira is 15 mil and sligthly more Medellin, around 20-25 mil as I recall it).

As a general rule, the sauna is reserved for early evenings and most patrons are arriving from work for a "break" before heading home. So as a general rule for Sauna 55 and all others in Colombia, you will find the busiest period to be between 4-7pm with weekends being slightly busier. From your research you have probably already noted that the saunas in Medellin generally close at 9:30/10:00pm daily.  Most are deserted by 9pm. 

Only the new El Castilo stays open 24 hours on weekends as far as I know. Other members that have been in town more recently  may have other options.

Late afternoon (4PM) for 2-3 hours until early evening. Weekends are more busy. At Club 55 I was told that Sunday afternoon is even more busy than Saturday.
