Members Popular Post macdaddi Posted March 2, 2022 Members Popular Post Posted March 2, 2022 Here is a list of the current (February 2022) list of bars that cater to a gay male crowd in Cartagena: Gabanna Club Bar Calle 32 #18B 108 Local 1A, Cartagena The most popular of the clubs at the moment, the Gabanna Club features two bar areas, a showroom, and a dark-room cruising area upstairs. Gets very crowded on weekends. The featured shows are generally drag on Friday, Go-Go dancers on Saturday, and live sex shows on Sunday. These are usually interactive with a roster of performers. Drinks are beer and shots (rum, whiskey) and soft drinks. The Crowd includes a wide range of ages and tastes—generally something for everyone. The dark room can get packed on the weekend, come prepared (and watch your wallet/phone). https://www.google.com/maps/place/Gabanna+Bar+Club+Cartagena/@10.4224301,-75.5363337,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0x615c35e5e98e7e35?sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi5l4jWj6b2AhXxIDQIHUb2A8kQ_BJ6BAgrEAU City Club Calle 8A ##24-16, Cartagena This large North American-style club above a popular salsa bar features two large rooms with a DJ playing club anthems and latin pop and reggaeton. The entrance is just below the double balcony on Calle 8A (esquina Arsenal), diagonally across the street from the Convention Center entrance. The crowd is a mix of foreign tourists, rent boys and locals looking for a big night out. Prices are very expensive by Colombian standards – drinks will run 10-20K COP each. Drug use is rampant and open in the club – the washrooms are closely patrolled. Expect to be approached by the working boys present, many whom will happily show you shots of the goods on their phones. Open weekends only (Thursday-Friday-Saturday) and Sundays when national holidays fall on Monday. Cover charge depends on the event. Avatar Disco Bar 59 Avenida Pedro de Heredia #30 (2do piso) The locals flock to Avatar, locally known as Aventura, to drink cheap beer and rum, and dance the night away. This bar is comfortable room with plenty of tables and a dance floor above a Chinese restaurant off the main Pedro de Heredia just south of Carrera 59. This is place where the locals hang out and listen to local music (salsa, bachata, vallenato, champeta, and some reggaeton) and socialize. The booze flows and you will have plenty of chances to mix with the locals for dancing and more. This bar goes late on weekends and gets packed as other places close around 2am. Olimpio Night Club 7 Avenida Pedro de Heredia (Urbanizacion Los Angeles – esquina Carrera 62) - Located next door to flower shop Catering to the younger gay crowd, Olimpio is the place to see and been seen each weekend in gay Cartagena. The club is two connected rooms in shocking pink décor with a DJ spinning latin pop and reggaeton each Thursday – Friday – Saturday night. Expect a younger crowd looking to dance and socialize away the night. Drinks are higher priced here, hookah service available. Crowds arrive later – 11pm until 2am are the busiest hours. tm_nyc, xpaulo, Boy69 and 5 others 4 4 Quote

Are the tourists comming back to Colombia in significant numbers? Greetings from Bogota. There are no Covid travel restrictions currently. All travelers must show proof of a completed vaccination cycle with the vaccine name when entering Colombia. If you are not vaccinated, you must show a negative test from either an Antigen test (48 hours) or a PCR test (72 hours) prior to the arrival time in Colombia. There is a noticeable increase in the presence of foreigners in Bogota currently. I will be visiting some of the tourist zones (La Candelaria y Monserrate) later today, but the airport was much busier than it has been over the past 2 years when I arrived. Boy69 1 Quote
Members scott456 Posted October 7, 2022 Members Posted October 7, 2022 I have never been to Cartagena, but based on my experience in Bogota and Medellin, guys in Colombia are quite reserved, they don't even take shirts off at dance clubs. This is the main reason I skip Colombia's (and Mexico's) parties and head down directly to Brazil. But, I believe Europe have the wildest parties in the whole world. Hustlaball is coming up later this month, and I have booked the trip for it. Quote

Mileage may vary, but I would suggest from your comment that you have never been to El Mozo (Bogotá), Industry (Medellín), Purple (Medellín), City Club (Cartagena), or Queen (Calí) where the boys most definitely love to strip down and show off the hard work put in at the local Bodytech. There is also a very active local circuit in Bogotá and Medellín where private parties occur that get much more wild than the local clubs. For what it is worth... neyger and Latbear4blk 2 Quote
neyger Posted January 21, 2023 Posted January 21, 2023 I certainly agree with macdaddi, at least about the industry, purple & city club. I didn't visit the other clubs yet. Since this topic is about Cartagena, the city club was thriving on my last visit last year. The airconditioning was in arctic mode. You better dance or freeze to death. Drug use & sales had moved to the balcony that doubles as the smoking area. A lot of working boys and the 'hiso' of gay Cartagena. I don't remember the drinking prices, but it was expensive, like everything in Cartagena. macdaddi and Latbear4blk 1 1 Quote

My clubbing days are long past me, but I usually treat my friends to night out while here. While I am likely the oldest person, there is definitely a wide range of ages in the clubs. Particularly in Bogotá at the larger venues like Theatrón. Alex_Berl 1 Quote

I have no problems when good loooking young guys are treating me like I am the most handsome man in the world --because I am a rich man in their eyes. I enjoy it and I spend a little bit of money like I do for a good meal a good wine, great seats in the Metropolitan Opera or in the first class at plane. ... So at holiday I might enjoy the clubs macdaddi and Boy69 2 Quote
