Take Me Cafe

I walked by Take Me Cafe - used to be O'Briens - across the soi from Grottino's and it was open for business tonight. The sign out front said "Take Me" so I assume that is still the name of the establishment. I saw a guy playing a keyboard and a farang lady singing - she had a mike and was singing a standard ballad - can't remember the name of the song. There were a couple of Thai guys sitting at tables with a couple of farang guys - I have no idea if the Thai guys work there or came in with the farangs. I know details are sparse - but the news is that Take Me appears to be open for business. For those not familiar with this place - it is located on a small soi connecting Day Night 1 with Day Night 2 - beginning at Office Boy bar and ending at Gossip Cafe.

I have been by there a few times. I have seen the large, blond woman and someone said that she is the new owner. I do not know for sure. Anyway, I wish them luck on the business. The last few businesses in that location did not last long.

I like the name. Reminds me of the Bangkok restaurant 'Eat Me' - still thriving on a soi off Convent. On the subject of names, a friend named Richard was determined to retire to Phuket and open a bar - 'Dicks Last Stand'.

You are right that at least 3 of the last 3 business did not do well at all. I can't remember the first business's name. The second was O'brien's which was closed more often than it was open. And the Take Me (1) which lasted just 3 months.

I have always been puzzled why new entertainment places don't take advantage of the free advertising that is targeting their customer base. The message boards and the weekly reports are wonderful ways to get out the news.

I do not like it when they over hype their own business. But it is nice when they present any special event...like opening.

The new name is "Ina's Piano Bar". The owner is a German woman. Most of the time, the only person in the bar is the piano player.

What do you want to bet that the German woman is named Ina? I do not know for sure, but I am told she has a nice singing voice. If you are into piano bars, this might be a nice place to have a drink. From the street, the place looks nicely decorated. I hope Ina has a better go of it than the previous businesses.

A friend of mine tried to stop into Ina's on Friday night but he was too late. He said he was informed that the place closes at midnight.
