Members tm_nyc Posted October 27, 2021 Members Posted October 27, 2021 The Cambodian PM has announced a plan to open the country to travelers from Thailand. For fully vaccinated Thais & foreign tourists, that is: https://www.khmertimeskh.com/50959071/cambodia-to-allow-quarantine-free-entry-for-travellers-from-thailand-by-air/ Zero details on the when & how at this point but it's another bit of encouraging news. reader 1 Quote

spoon Posted November 17, 2021 Posted November 17, 2021 Seems like this is a better choice with much less headache for anyone wanted to travel to south east asia. Usd90 insurance (20 days) and only a rapid test on arrival. No sha+ one night quarantine, no cambodia pass. tm_nyc 1 Quote

My only question is how do they manage to administer the quickie covid tests if they start getting more tourists arriving at PNH. Could be a logistical nightmare. Quote

When malaysia did a pilot domestic tourism to Langkawi, rtk was compulsory at the airport. It takes a bit more planning and people were advice to arrived earlier. But it is far from a nightmare. The airport do need to space to keep people around for 15mins though plus the queue. But this was on departure and no test needed for arrival. tm_nyc 1 Quote
macaroni21 Posted November 18, 2021 Posted November 18, 2021 Read the fine print: "Visa on arrival is not available yet and Foreign travelers are required to apply visa from Royal Embassy or Consulate general of Cambodia in the host country." So, while it might not be similar to the Thai Pass, there is still an online application to be made for visa. This may be an existing and proven system, in which case the bugs would have been sorted out long ago, or it may be new. And does anyone know where to find out more about the differences among A B C K T E visas? Which countries qualify for "exemption visa"? Quote
Members tm_nyc Posted November 18, 2021 Author Members Posted November 18, 2021 Macaroni, I believe the regular Cambodian tourist e-visa (which has been up & running for years) is an option. There's a Facebook group on Cambodian Visas & Work Permits which could help sort out all the other different visa alternatives. reader 1 Quote
spoon Posted November 19, 2021 Posted November 19, 2021 Most from neighboring countries (Asean) are in the visa exempt group. So itll definitely a better choice for us to go to cambodia if thailand current rules are a deal-breaker. For most regular tourists, cambodia definitely looks more attractive now. U do have to purchase their insurance though. I checked and its about usd90 for 20 days. tm_nyc 1 Quote
