Guest lvdkeyes Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I was at The Avenue today and at the cinema there is a large poster advertising Soi Cowboy and it says "Exclusive showing at the Paragon in Bangkok" (or something to that effect). Then I noticed that it was, in fact, playing there. My bf and I went to see it. I have to say it is one of the strangest movies I have ever seen. Neither of us fully understood what it was all about. It is very slow moving and the first half is in black and white and the second half in color. No apparent reason for it! I don't want to tell too much about it in case others plan to see it. If anyone sees it and understands it please let me know. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 29, 2009 Posted January 29, 2009 I haven't seen it and based on your review and other reviews I've read, I don't intend to. Have a look at the following: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1224455 Quote

Have a look at the following: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1224455 This review hits the nail on the head. For those who may not know what a Zimmer frame is; it is known as a walker in the US. The scene the review mentions is the old woman slowly walks into the elevator after the guy and the girl. There is some meaningless small talk. When the elevator gets to her floor she just stands there facing the back of the elevator until the guy tells her it is her floor. She V E R Y S L O W L Y turns , walks out of the elevator and starts to walk down a very long hall as at snail's pace, gets about 1/2 way down and turns and starts to come back down the hall. The scene made no sense whatsoever, actually this is typical of the scenes throughout the movie and none of it makes sense. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 30, 2009 Posted January 30, 2009 Some scenes from Bangkok Dangerous were filmed on Soi Cowboy (the soi not the movie) . That also got bad reviews but I liked it but have to admit if I had never been to Thailand I would have liked it much less. I think the BKK Dangerous would have been better if Nicholas Cage had played his character in a more charismatic way but whadda I know; I never went to film school. B) Quote

B) Bangkok Dangerous was a remake (rip off) of a Thai movie. Quote

Sounds like a David Lynch movie - always very strange - I often think that if I do not understand what I just saw there must be symbolism in that scene that I should try to figure out. Quote
