PattayaMale Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Thai Airways International Plc (THAI) is cutting domestic airfare in between 45-55 percent from market price while dipping ticket price for international routes up to 50 percent, aims to stimulate traveling in first quarter this year. "This is the first time the airline offers such extra lower airfare," Chris Chantalitanon, director area for Thailand, Indochina and Myanmar , said Wednesday. The Nation I noticed it did not say which routes were getting the 50% cut. Maybe just the Asian routes? Quote
Guest MonkeySee Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 I noticed it did not say which routes were getting the 50% cut. Maybe just the Asian routes? I would be surprised if they cut the LAX to BKK flight, even by 10%. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Was goofing around on their website and saw saw LAX-BKK fares of $959 for some midweek days. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Was goofing around on their website and saw saw LAX-BKK fares of $959 for some midweek days. Is that roundtrip, or just one way?? What were some of the dates with the 959??? Quote

Is this a new promotion? TG has been advertising much lower domestic fares for some weeks, but they are only available until end January. Quote

PattayaMale Posted January 26, 2009 Author Posted January 26, 2009 Best bet is to go online and check regularly. It seems that as traffic gets to be less, they may now do what is more reasonable than increasing fres and start to give better promotions Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Is that roundtrip, or just one way?? What were some of the dates with the 959??? Does this include taxes and fuel surcharge? Roundtrip. One example is departing LAX on Tuesday, Feb 10 and returning on Thur Feb 26. But it does not include taxes and surcharge. The final price is $1224, so not so good afterall. Quote
Guest GaySacGuy Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 The only thing I can call this is Chicken Shit....Thai Air charges LESS for LAX rt to BKK, than a roundtrip from BKK to LAX. If I was in the US, I can fly cheaper from there to here, but living here is wll cost more for the same flight. I am guessing that some kind of government tourist fund pay Thai Air for each passenger coming into the country from foreign lands. Anyone know any thing about these differences??? Quote

Guest laurence Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 Prices I saw on-line were about $1300 USD for economy about the same as NWA except non -stop from LAX to BKK. Hardly "slashed". Quote

Guest laurence Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 I don't think the prices were slashed at all. Just a ploy. The cost for premium economy is about $2000 the same as it was one year ago. Quote

NO there is NO price change! from recent reports on their financial condition... they sound like GM and United Airlines...among other noteables. all are in BIG trouble! it probably would be in bankruptcy if an USA carrier. Look elsewhere...sad! tj Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 27, 2009 Posted January 27, 2009 TG795 / TG794 operates using A340-500 aircraft configured for 60 seats in Royal SIlk Business Class, 42 seats in Premium Economy Class, and 113 seats in Economy Class on the following schedule: This appears to be the same configuration as the former JFK-BKK non-stop. By far the best economy seats on this plane is Row 44. Row 44 has more legroom than you can possible use, the mother of all buklheads in the center. And on the sides there are emergency exits. These seats are usually not assigned as the bulkhead can handle basinets. But if they really want to they can go into the system and assign those seats. I told my Pattaya travel agent that if she could reassign me to row 44 I'd give a 500 baht tip and I got the seat. The three rows between Premium economy and Row 44 are interesting because they're in their own private cabin, kind of nice. The first one not sure the row number, it may not be 41 would be my second choice. With about 60 movies on demand plus old TV shows, Thai and other language lessons and chess, I never got bored. Quote
