PattayaMale Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I noticed that the roads are crowded and some people seem to be getting ready for the Chinese New Year. By Thai friend said we can't clean the house today because of the New Year. I did not know that and was told not to empty the trash. Other than that, is there anything special going on that you will be doing to celebrate? Quote

Guest buckeroo2 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Teerak told me something was going on at Bali Hai pier 2nite. Anyone know what and when? There is a large professionally produced sign outside of the middle school at the corner of 2nd Rd and S. Pattaya Rd. It says that there will be 4 nights of celebrations at Bali Hai Pier for Chinese New Years - should have paid closer attention - but I believe the four nights are Jan 24-Jan27 - also I saw a notice in Friendship market that they will be holding there annual Chinese New Years celebration with the infamous dragon parade tomorrow. I cannot remember the starting time but it is usually an afternoon affair that proceeds from Friendship up S Pattaya Rd.in the direction of 2nd Rd. It is a real spectacle and lots of fun. Quote

Bob Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Yup, in honor of CNY, I'm flying to LOS tomorrow. Last year, I made a trip to LOS a day before CNY and I was absolutely dumbfounded at the lack of people there (same in Taipei). When I went into the LAX international terminal, my first reaction was something was wrong - that there had been a security issue or that the damn place was closed; however, several people explained to me that it was Chinese New Year and that everybody had already gone home. It seemed to me that the terminal had far less than half the number of people usually there. So.....I hoping for the same tomorrow (quiet and peaceful terminals and flights). Quote

I just returned from Friendship market and and a sign posted there says their dragon parade festivities will occur today in their parking lot on S. Pattaya Rd at 14:30 hr and it will be repeated at 19:30 hr. Quote
