TotallyOz Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Compared to the other apps, Grindr is so expensive. What gives? I think nearly 250 USD for a year of premium and that is often 5 times that of other apps. Riobard 1 Quote

Members Riobard Posted April 14, 2021 Members Posted April 14, 2021 I think my use of Grindr Xtra has averaged to about $100 per hour and I have never had an actual meetup. Quote
faranglaw Posted April 14, 2021 Posted April 14, 2021 Why would anyone pay for the Extra? I’m genuinely curious. Quote

I just cannot remember what it is. And inertia prevents me from investigating and trying to roll back to basic. Maybe I will at the next annual charge. Quote

Are you on some even better plan ? Or is it yet another case of a business screwing customers who renew their plan without haggling ? In which case, I'm sure you can sort it ! I had actually been considering testing a Hornet subscription. However, whilst Hornet is possibly more popular in Thailand, it's now rapidly losing out to Grindr where I live in England. Hornet keeps launching into 30 second ads, with noise. So I close the app. Judging by the rapidly declining number of people on there, it seems most of their other former customers are doing the same. Of course, they need to make money, but the ads need to be discrete and of reasonable duration. Or they kill their franchise. With Grindr, I've been experimenting with the "block" feature. Firstly I tried it with every lady boy in Pattaya. That stopped the nuisance messages and cleaned up the appearance of the screen. So when back in England I've tried blocking everyone who is a definite "no", on the basis that whoever is left might be more interesting. However, there are a constant stream of people creating new profiles. I've even got a suspicion that some who show up are driving along the major road about 2 miles from my house. I might try a subscription, but it would be more interesting to firstly hear what benefits people actually notice with that. Quote
