I understood that catete is safe

I find it safe. Luck of the draw. There are true crime stories in all districts that back up the necessity of guardedness. The main drag is full of throngs of nice locals. The idea is that wherever you are vigilance is warranted. And if you stay in Catete you will still be out and about ranging likely from south to Ipanema to northerly up to the Museum of Tomorrow area. My radius following several extended visits is more expansive, but perhaps impractical for newbies. Many well-heeled locals use the Metro and light rail transit, as I do. Seniors ride for free and are entitled to a seat if crowded. Never once stalled; in contrast, have had gig-based vehicles stuck in traffic. However, my stylist is on leave when I travel and I blend in quite well. A grocery store shopping bag is as functional as a backpack. I am usually among the more poorly dressed on local transit; Brazilians take great pride in appearance notwithstanding socioeconomic status. I have no need of attractive mating plumage considering exclusive transactional play.

Ahahah

Riobard i really love your sense of humour.

Wearing nice clothes belongs to the pleasure of hollidays but i promise not to wear watch jewlery or Nike.

AYOR. Teasing of course. I wear sensible Nike Free footwear.

Your message is something alarmist however

I would still visit Rio without question - but I go knowing the real dangers & take necessary precautions.  Rio is most foreigners first stop in Brazil and with good reason - the natural beauty is breathtaking  & the boys are very accessible with minimal effort.  I’ve probably been there 10+ times and yes, I’ve seen more crime there as a visitor than anywhere else.   The crime targeted towards tourists is generally petty street crime & non-violent.

My preference these days is São Paulo tho - much safer than Rio and more sophisticated. The boys seem more professional and way better hotels & restaurants.

It’s a toss up for me and lately I try to work both in on any given trip.

check their IG, Facebook and Twitter posts for current pricing & promotions. As I recall, always an entrance fee - cabine pricing depends on day & promotions.  whatever they charge - it’s minimal compared to what you’ll get anywhere else.

The venues will keep an account for entrance, room, and refreshments charges. The credit card machines at 117 often do not work. You may get a look that suggests the problem is your card. I always stand my ground until they find one that functions. I never let on I have the cash to cover it. But I have the cash in the event, not occurred so far, there is an impasse.

Entrance BRZ65-75ish. Rooms 40-ish for 30 minutes. They may round up to 80 if you go over 30 minutes even by a small margin for any given assignation. I often just plan 60 minutes, pay the 80 reais at check-out, and the escort a negotiated 1-hour program cash charge. You can check your tab on the reception computer prior to paying up.

You pay escorts direct to them with cash. Biggest newbie mistake is to not bring enough currency bills in the event you discover you want to hook up with many more than you anticipated.

Much of this is already previously described.

I am more vigilant at 202 due to a house attempt this year at upcharging for a few bogus bar items because I am not an alcoholic or snacker, thinking I would not be the wiser. Ironically, they forgot a room charge for the one program that visit, so the cheating lacked expertise. Flies on them.

Was going to be my advice at all saunas and restaurants for that matter, mistakes happen either intentional or otherwise....check the bills before you pay

Sorry i have one more stupid question.
in club 117 and point 202 i understand that the boy’s rate is between 150 and 200 reals.

but How much charge the sauna for the entry ?
and above all are the cabins free ?

the price matters most for whether it's their "special" day when admission is free and they are packed with hot guys.

Thanks riobard

It is a clear and precise answer.

Exact what i needed.
rather than redirected me to improbable sites.

you’re the best

I described the tip of the iceberg and a bit of its submerged part. For a nuanced grasp, and to finesse the agenda of being up to speed in an often Fellini-esque sitch, the advice about drilling down into venues’ social media is very well-intentioned, albeit perhaps feeling somewhat laborious for a rookie. That said, I thrived and survived the brothel scene years ago with no previous orientation or Portuguese language skill. I am now among those that wisely case such sites diligently. Sometimes there is a special deal only if you know about it; ignorance of it upticks venue profit margins. It’s not a question of having a privileged ‘coupon’; it’s about holding a place to its advertised word put forward in a banner.

On a similar note, the trade has not apparently figured out that I stick to a generous budget for the duration and that on a final trip’s attendance I throw the balance of my cash around like a drunken sailor, asking for the moon erotically and forking out more for a  larger slice of it. Out with a bang, one that usually yields more whimper. But then on a given subsequent trip these indiscretions have been somewhat burned into some of their spreadsheets and pricetags.

Yes.  And not just in Rio, or Brazil.  Any of our destinations.  🙃

none of the Rio saunas have traditional websites - they all direct to various social media. It’s strange, but that’s it for current information from the actual venues.

if I was spending hundreds/thousands to book a transatlantic flight, reserving costly hotel reservations, taking time-off from work and visiting a city for the very first time: the very least I’d do is some independent online research to determine prices, open time/days, promotions & other information directly from the venue I want to visit.  There is always some information available online somewhere - in this case social media sites only.

While the members here are well-meaning & very informed, the information is dynamic and subject to change, thus the need to check out the current situation independently.  I can’t imagine going into an unknown situation armed with only information from an anonymous chat room forum. But, we all do things differently.

I can remember visiting Rio 20 years ago for the first time without the benefit of any of this information. There were always some English speakers around who explained everything & anything in the saunas and on the beach. Including some of the boys.  It’s just not that complicated.

And, in comparison to anywhere else - you’re basically counting loose change in Rio. The prices are almost irrelevant bc it’s so cheap. The difference between 150 to 200 reais is $10.  Is that even worth worrying about ?  No, it’s not unless you enjoy haggling with someone that probably lives in poverty by our standards.

Btw - the prices for entrance & cabines are clearly posted at sauna check-in as the assumption is many clients do not speak Portuguese. You can always check your balance due at any time during your visit if you want to see how much you’ve spent.  I’ve never had extra charges added-on, although have had charges left off.  It’s Brazil.

I will try to tell you my modest adventures if it is of interest.

Rio is not a place for modest adventures - it’s all about debauchery & decadence and doing the things you can’t do at home…..make the most of it.  When are you going ??

There’s lot of other basic advice for first time visitors to Brazil & Rio in these forums under various topics. There’s also a few stories of what not to do.

I will be there next week and will try to make the most of it.. as you tell me.

that’s why i wonder where i could find hustlers outside 117 and pointe… cinéma sex shop park.

i read a little about républic Park in this forum but not very detailled.
And i found nothing about cinema and sex shop except posts dated from ten years .

I’d like to explore all thé possibility since i will stay there 2 weeks.

not into apps because not into gymqueensforpay. But perhaps i am wrong…
