pete01 Posted March 11, 2021 Posted March 11, 2021 1). Shiner Bock 2). Modelo 3.) Guinness 4). Heineken 5). Skol Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted March 11, 2021 Author Posted March 11, 2021 I find that guinness is good for one beer. After that though it just makes me feel so full Quote
dubdavie Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 I agree Guinness is a heavy drink an takes a while to get used to its taste. The older I get I tend to opt more for the larger beers which are an easier drink particularly on holidays in warmer climates. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted March 12, 2021 Author Posted March 12, 2021 yep. I can easily do six lagers and not feel full. At one and a half guinness I'm stuffed. Quote
Midguy1 Posted March 12, 2021 Posted March 12, 2021 My favourites are (no particular order): 1. Wherry, 2. Stella Artois, 3. Abbots, 4. Everards Tiger, 5. Peroni. Quote
Members JKane Posted March 14, 2021 Members Posted March 14, 2021 Jeeze, if we ever get out of the Covid Clusterfuck I'm gonna have to take any Angelino board members to where there's real beer! Art's District brewing downtown is good. Karl Strauss (only the one downtown also has a great selection of better beers than their in-house) and Mikkeller (SHIT, never mind, just looked up spelling and it CLOSED), well if you're in SF try it there! Think they're in SD too. Blue Palms in Hollywood is owned by the Art's District people, great beer selection and food. We're Pouring in Glendale is good beer and food. Wolf Creek in Santa Clarita is great food and some good beer. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted March 14, 2021 Author Posted March 14, 2021 I worry we're never going to be able to go to bars again Quote
Members Riobard Posted March 14, 2021 Members Posted March 14, 2021 Well, 12 years of prohibition, for different reasons, followed on the heels of the Spanish Flu epidemic. History repeats itself but let’s hope the net effect of this time around is not the same as that governed by temperance a century ago. Quote
richincali Posted March 14, 2021 Posted March 14, 2021 Lately, I seem to be drinking beer from craft local breweries most often. But my favorite global/widespread brands are: 1. Goose Island IPA 2. Heineken 3. Singha (love it served in a beer tower with ice in Thailand) 4. Corona 5. Paulaner. Quote
BiBottomBoy Posted March 15, 2021 Author Posted March 15, 2021 I'd forgotten about Paulaner. That is a very good beer! Quote

Members daydreamer Posted March 16, 2021 Members Posted March 16, 2021 I'm guessing the Stella lovers mean Stella Artois, the Belgian beer. Stella beer without the "Artois" is brewed in Egypt. It's not for the timid, as every bottle is different. I drank it occasionally when I lived in Egypt, but only if there was no other option. The company has been sold since I lived in Egypt, so I don't know if their quality control has improved lately. It has been brewed under the Stella name in Egypt since 1897. The label on the right below is the new version since being sold. lookin 1 Quote
