Guest lvdkeyes Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I am not sure how it is determined on which message forum postings should be made. Quote
Guest Steve1903 Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 I'm not sure I understand your comment/question. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 15, 2009 Posted January 15, 2009 Thailand topics go in Gay Thailand. Topics dealing with Asia (other than Thailand) go in Gay Asia. But I would imagine that a topic about Middle East politics would not be considered "Asia" and would go in the Beer Bar instead. But a topic about rent boys in Baghdad would go in Gay Asia. There's always going to be judgment calls. Topics such as "which forum do I post a topic in" go in Comments and Suggestions. All other stuff goes in the Beer Bar. Or at least that's the way I see it. Gaybutton Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Or at least that's the way I see it. You are correct. Usually, if someone posts something in the wrong forum I just move it to the correct one. If you can't find a thread you started, it hasn't necessarily been deleted. It probably was simply moved to the forum at which it belongs. Quote
Guest lvdkeyes Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks for the clarification. Now I see if I had read the descriptors of each forum I would have known better. Quote
PattayaMale Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 I have never really understood the reason these small message boards use different forums. I am not complaining at all but if someone can give a good explanation as to why and also should it continue that way. I am not trying to cause a revolution.... Quote

If you prefer to view all new posts no matter which (sub)-forum, then click on My Assistant and a pop up box will be at the top of your screen. Then click on new posts. Quote
Guest Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 The different message board were created as a way to help organize the threads. Some like to have the ability to sift through things not related to Thailand and this was the way we decided to organize the various forums. We are always open to other suggestions to improve on this. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 if someone can give a good explanation as to why and also should it continue that way. Not everyone agrees with the way we do things. The three major forums on this board are this one, the Beer Bar forum, and the Gay Asia forum. This forum is for anything that applies directly to Thailand and gay aspects of Thailand. The Gay Asia forum is for anything that applies to other Asian countries and the gay aspects. The Beer Bar is essentially for anything else. This web site is called Gay Thailand. We establish the other forums so that nobody has to feel limited as to what they want to talk about, but people come here looking for specific information. I think it makes life much easier for people looking for gay information or information about Thailand if they know that's what they're going to find on this forum. I don't think they want to wade through posts about Bush and Obama, actors who passed away, air crashes in the Hudson River, etc, none of which have anything to do directly with Thailand or gay Thailand, to find what they're looking for. That's why we do it this way. Quote
PattayaMale Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Thank you all for the explanations. I never did know about using the assistant. Now that I know that you can see all new posts (I imagine that means unread by me), I will try it. As far as grouping posts, I understood that. I did not make it clear, but I was taking about moving a post. I usually only read the Gay Thailand forum. If I for instance wanted to try and make a humorous post that did not really have anything to do with Gay Thailand I might want to post it on the Gay Thailand forum so it would be read by more people. I am not asking for any change just clarifying what I meant. However, now that I know about the "my assistant" I will try that. Quote
Guest Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 PattayaMale. Not many use the assistant but some do. We also have full Blogs, Galleries, etc and they are all free. We do not charge anyone for these features and never will. Quote
Gaybutton Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 If I for instance wanted to try and make a humorous post that did not really have anything to do with Gay Thailand I might want to post it on the Gay Thailand forum so it would be read by more people. Sorry, but you'll have to post those on the Beer Bar forum if you don't want the post moved. We can't start making exceptions and we can't sit here trying to determine whether more people are going to read it on one forum as opposed to another. If we allow that for you, then we're going to have to start allowing the same thing for everyone else, and there goes the purpose of distinctive forums. Of course, if the humorous post, or any other post for that matter, has something to do with Thailand or gay Thailand, this is the forum on which to post it. Quote
PattayaMale Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 I was not asking for any exceptions for me. I was just wondering about it and everything is well clarified. By the way have you heard the one about the guy from south Florida? He............................ You will have to check the beer bar forum for the rest. But it really is a gem.............. Quote
