Yesterday Douglas Stuart won The Man Booker Prize 2020 for his first novel, Shuggie Bain. Nothing about the style of his short story (I haven't read The Englishman) turned me off, it just wasn't a particularly captivating style like say Colm Toibin or Dennis Cooper.
