PattayaMale Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 2 friends and I went to some of the gogo bars in Sunee. We had a good time but did notice that the gogo bar next to Corner Bar has many entertainers and a lot of energy but also seem to be a bit young. Interestingly, this seems to be one of the bars that allow smoking but there were no customers smoking. The only one's smoking were a few of the young boys. I did ask the mamasam to have them stop or go upstairs or outside. He did take care of it but I understand that it will probably not be permanent. Quote
Guest Astrrro Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 I'm not a smoker but when choosing a Sunee gogo, we often choose Villa Rouge (formerly Kaos) because my friends can smoke. Think Heinekens are 140 (so a bit more expensive than Cocktail Boyz or EuroBoy$ )and boy drinks 130. Comfortable seating. Quote
Guest laurence Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 The go go bar next to Corner Bar is Villa Rouge unless they changed the name again. Quote
Guest CurlyEye Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 When i was at one bar some of the boys seemed obviously <18, so I asked one of the mamasans. She pointed out a couple that I was curious about admitted they were no older than 17. When I said that was too young, why would anyone risk barfining them. She just pointed upstairs and said many customer like young. Quote
PattayaMale Posted January 16, 2009 Author Posted January 16, 2009 At the bar I described, I bet my friends that they were all over 18. I called one guy from the stage that looked maybe at best he was 14. I asked him how old he was. 19 he said. I gave him a 20 baht and as he returned to the stage I put out my hand to collect my bet from my 2 friends. Well my 2 friends protested........... If you can't believe the boys who can you believe... Gaybutton Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 If you can't believe the boys who can you believe... Their ID cards, if the ID card is actually theirs . . . I suppose you can also believe the police officer as he's explaining things on the way downtown . . . Quote

Some actually flaunt the underage. On my last visit, I found few bars that were flaunting the age laws. Many of the bars were questionable but not flaunting it. There are many beer bars who keep their employees over 18. But, many of them allow Thai customers under 20 and that too is against the law. There are so many different bars that it should not be hard to find one you like and that follows the law. However, my prediction is that when the tourists slow down even more, the bars will cater to anything they can sell. That is a sad thing but something they seem to do often when times get tough. Gaybutton Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 That is a sad thing but something they seem to do often when times get tough. From what I've seen over the years, there are plenty of them that do the same thing even in the best of times. Quote
PattayaMale Posted January 17, 2009 Author Posted January 17, 2009 From what I've seen over the years, there are plenty of them that do the same thing even in the best of times. There must be a market for it. And as slackerman keeps saying on the very long "who to report to thread". It should be left up to the business owner and something about letting the market decide. I think this kind of thinking is a bit of a slippery slope (economic crisis). As when some business are left unregulated, things do usually get out of control. Quote
Guest CurlyEye Posted January 18, 2009 Posted January 18, 2009 There has not been one gogo bar in Sunee that has not had under 18 at one time or another. I'm sure that is very accurate, even if the bar did not do this knowingly. When one bar closed for a few weeks last May, many of the cuties moved to another bar. I asked a mamasan how old a particularly cute and rather young looking fem boy was, and she produced his id and showed me. He was 3 months short of his 18th birthday. They were not flaunting it, but apparently not doing much to hide it either. To me, if the bars want to do that, up to them, it's their country. But I'll just be careful and check IDs and use my better judgment as best I can. Quote
