That's the most unflattering angle for streamers. Toobin was taught to never allow the camera to point up towards the face, especially from one's lap. Most professionals know that the laptop needs to be slightly elevated in an effort to get the camera lens to be even with or slightly look downwards to the face. Many streamers struggle with the physics of proper lens position in relation to the subject. Just because people own a smartphone, that doesn't make everyone a smart photographer. Quote
Members RockHardNYC Posted November 12, 2020 Author Members Posted November 12, 2020 After the investigation, the New Yorker fires Jeffrey Tubin. Apparently, while on the Zoom call with the New Yorker team, he took a second call with a Cam-girl. I guess he figured he'd rub one out while on a boring business call, and didn't realize his New Yorker Zoom camera was still live. That's what HUBRIS gets you. It will be interesting to see how long it takes before someone has him on TV as a guest. Jeffrey Toobin Is Fired by The New Yorker Quote

I have many friends who are over-sexed. I know the struggles they endure. That has never been an issue for me, and I keep sex far away from the workplace. In my early corporate years, my female boss was accused of having an affair with the company's CEO. The CEO was married with kids, so the accusation caused a lot of hurtful turmoil. Living through this experience at a young age taught me how easily one negative rumor can make life on the job miserable. I grew up never wanting to experience that pain. Quote

During Covid lock down periods, people were struggling to connect. The Internet was that way. As much as some worked from homes, it is easy to get private lives and working lives separate. The going into the office does create an invisible wall that was not there before so it is hard not to mix things up. Quote

Covid is a completely different animal. Most people have no clue how to work from home. In my early corporate days, the flagship Madison Ave office was going through extreme renovation. For almost a year, I had to set up a creative office in my home. I remember fondly my relationship with the Sam Flax store in the Flatiron District. They took great care of me, while the company took care of all the bills. But, IMO, that is absolutely no excuse for Jeffrey Toobin, who has a family. Granted, Toobin has been involved with personal scandal before, admitting to paternity from an extra-marital affair. Even so, how much destruction of a family is OK? When should the offending member be put away and silenced for a very long time? I guess we're going to find out. Quote

We don't know what his family knows or thinks. I do believe anyone who needs to "get off" should be able to do that and with a cam person is a good safe way for this to go down (so to speak). It wasn't actually cheating depending on their relationship rules. I know people who say it ain't cheating in multiple scenarios. However, that does not excuse his doing this on camera. That was stupid. But, I do not consider the act itself as destructive. Quote

I have had a few accidents myself and while not on work calls, it was embarrassing. Haven't you ever left you phone on accidentally or butt dialed someone? Quote

I'm not trying to change anyone's mind in one way or another. I simply think Toobin's dilemma is fascinating. Literally, overnight, he lost most of his extremely successful business that took decades to build. Not to mention his reputation. I love sex just as much as the next horny bastard, but I sure never want sex to destroy my life, my reputation, my livelihood, and the lives of those whom I love. 1 hour ago, TotallyOz said: Haven't you ever left you phone on accidentally or butt dialed someone? The simple answer is no. But I'm not the person to ask about cell phone accidents. I'm not a cell phone person. In fact, I dislike using cell phones, mostly for the poor sound quality and the mostly awful cell signal service, no matter what company you're with. Most of my friends know not to call me from a cell phone if they desire a conversation longer than three minutes. I have little patience for mediocre sound quality. Don't even get me started on mp3. Butt dialing is an innocent accident that could happen to anyone. Leaving a camera on during a business Zoom call while you switch to a porn site, revealing the family jewels to your business associates, male and female, is less innocent. A smart businessman is required to learn the dangers of tech accidents. When it comes to protecting my business interests, I tend to err on the side of very cautious and disciplined. Members Lucky Posted December 16, 2020 Members Posted December 16, 2020 There are those who argue that he has done nothing to forgive. His lapse of judgment, in my opinion, is causing a backlash beyond what is appropriate. Quote

Plenty of lawyers happy he's off the air for now. I do miss his commentary presence on CNN. I'm watching less and less CNN now that he's gone. David Axelrod and David Gergen are the only two I can listen to. Can't stand that pious prig Rick Santorum, a failed, divisive politician who doesn't deserve a place at the table. Quote
