Ability to go to newest post in thread missing? No more highlighted post to indicate new posts?

I noticed that the Recently Updated column doesn't take you to your most recently viewed post and doesn't highlight the threads that have new entries since you last visited the thread.

Do I need to change a setting?

I just noticed the non-highlighted threads are in recently viewed.  There are highlighted threads in the different chat rooms but they don't take you to your most recently viewed.

If you click on the dot or star to the right of a bolded (new posts/unread) thread in a forum it takes you to the latest message still.  

I really wish the recently updated sidebar's functionality would come back too though!
