Members tassojunior Posted July 17, 2020 Members Posted July 17, 2020 (edited) Following the trend in the EU (and hopefully worldwide) France is about to allow Americans back in with (evidently a free?) test in the airport. Coronavirus: tests will be systematized at airports for travelers from countries classified red, announces the government People who have already taken a test in their home country should be able to prove it at the airport, government spokesman Gabriel Attal said on BFMTV. https://www.francetvinfo.fr/sante/maladie/coronavirus/deconfinement/coronavirus-gabriel-attal-annonce-une-systematisation-des-tests-dans-les-aeroports-pour-les-voyageurs-venant-de-pays-classes-rouge_4043441.html?utm_medium=Social&utm_source=Facebook&Echobox=1594570346&fbclid=IwAR3NzNl-7SjEt9K_2pIDxNdZjMCxZOIDDLCUvkzDF2PCzawKZbqFLkP3GYY#xtor=CS1-746 Just as interesting, the new policy was announced by President Macron's spokesperson openly gay Minister of Health Gabriel Attal. Members pauleiro Posted July 17, 2020 Members Posted July 17, 2020 Tasso, you are following very closely what happens in Europe ! It is funny because I exchanged privately on Gabriel recently with member of this forum. He is cute ! I like the picture of him reading newspaper along the Seine while drinking Rosé. He is the cutest of all French Government spokepersons (and almost the youngest since he is only 31 : another promising young lad was spokesperson at the age of 30). The spokespersons used to be older gentlemen. French President Nicolas Sarkozy was once one of these spokespersons (he was 38 at the time). Then there was the series of smiling young women, including the one who was just before Gabriel, the one on top. Before these 2, there was Benjamin Griveaux (holding a mic in the pic above). He tried to be Mayor of Paris last March but he sent to his new girfriend a video of him wanking ... The girlfiend passed it to her own boyfriend who sent it to the press. Big scandal also partly because Benjamin was supposed to be "happily" married. So he had to resign . . . As for gay celebrities in France, it is not as open as in the US, I think. The former Mayor of Paris (Bertrand Delanoe) was gay and married. He did not hide anything but he was very discrete on his relationship. As for coronavirus in France, as in some countries or some places in the world, there is an increase in the number of cases in a few regions which move from "green" to "red" whatever it means. No lockdown decided yet, but it may come locally ... tassojunior and flipao 1 1 Quote
Members Riobard Posted July 17, 2020 Members Posted July 17, 2020 (edited) Please clarify that this means opening up to red zone tourists. All that the news releases in English are saying is that tests will be available at the airport and cannot be enforced due to legalities surrounding personal health info. There are already many entry exemptions for foreign nationals from restricted countries such as for essential purposes or transit-through up to 24 hours. Could this mean they are the target for testing? None of the official French websites have altered their allowable countries list predicated on the ‘ PCR-negative “passports” ‘ model. Moreover, the quarantine requirements seem also to have not been revised. I hope this has not been misinterpreted, that it is simply a matter of the various ministries getting aligned and up to speed, and that it is truly a promising step for travel to France. Yes, it's for visitors from Red Zone countries. I think governments are quickly realizing that allowing people in with a test makes sense. It seems to be popping up all over Europe. The 14-day quarantine is much less safe and very hard to enforce. I'm in a "Couples Separated by Travel Bans" group on FB and Denmark and Netherlands are already allowing "lovers" in from the US with little proof and no tests. I suspect the US being allowed in, even with tests, depends on reciprocity, as the EU has told China and Asian countries otherwise eligible they won't get in without reciprocity. The EU has to do this because the image of an "EU" will be shattered when 1 country goes it's own way (as Croatia did originally). Of course some tests are simple and quick and free or low-cost while others are expensive and take days. Edited July 17, 2020 by tassojunior Latbear4blk and Riobard 1 1 Quote
Members Riobard Posted July 17, 2020 Members Posted July 17, 2020 (edited) Many countries in Europe have already recently surpassed or are trending towards the incidence /prevalence threshold that had been set by EU a few weeks ago, matching or exceeding rates for some non-EU countries that had been delegated to red zone status. It certainly makes sense to steer away from the compass of ever-changing epidemiological metrics and draw on point-of-travel clinical indicators superior to temperature screening. A false negative testing rate of no greater than 6% among Americans is equivalent to the risk threshold set for exclusion a few weeks ago. Unfortunately, a false negative rate of 20% is generally considered to be the norm. If I were on whatever “council” I’d be pushing for a four-pronged set of criteria based on both host and visitor case prevalence, as well as adding test sensitivity to the algorithm, and factor in a transmission reproduction metric based on the assumption visitors by and large are more likely to circulate publicly. This is a fake document, photoshopped. It is not Macron's real pic. The pictures of a LGBT tattoo that Macron is supposed to have is also fake news. Also fake is the gay love story between Macron and Mathieu Gallet (former President of French TV) Mathieu Gallet was compared to a former Republican Illinois Deputy, Aaron Schock, since both were supposed to be gay, both were good looking and both wasted a lot of money to refurbish their office. flipao, numerito and axiom2001 3 Quote

Members tassojunior Posted August 10, 2020 Author Members Posted August 10, 2020 Now Germany has started free immediate tests at airports and the US at 15per100k is well below the 50per100k for the next update anyway. ESTA is working again and the US is obligated to be reciprocal. Germany: Mandatory coronavirus testing at airports off to smooth start https://p.dw.com/p/3gfjZ Quote
Members Riobard Posted August 10, 2020 Members Posted August 10, 2020 (edited) It’s not the 7-day average ... it is the 7-day tally, 114per100K for USA, well above the 50per100K threshold. It is, however, more lenient than the initial EU cut-off for red zones, 8per100K. Edited August 10, 2020 by Riobard tassojunior 1 Quote

Well at least if the US new case total keeps going down 20% per 14 days that gives hope for a month or 6 weeks from now. Unless they just allow anyone in with a test which seems to be the trend now. Members Riobard Posted August 11, 2020 Members Posted August 11, 2020 What comes down must go up. CoV has its own law of physics. The curve must drop to 7/100K daily (14 on the graph because these estimates double the reported rates). It looks like with successful mitigation that could happen in about 7 weeks yet swing up again past the disqualification threshold soon after, even if the population is compliant with masks. Of course, predictions are just that. However, USA got so out of control that a normal abatement may not dip low enough to keep a subsequent uptick to the level that Germany current dictates. Most places are bracing for some degree of Fall resurgence. Quote
