Members SexyAsianStud Posted June 20, 2020 Members Posted June 20, 2020 Trump has completely lost interest in Covid-19 No good headlines for him, so he has ignored the pandemic altogether. His attitude—and his stubborn refusal to wear a mask—signals that the danger is past. He has made clear that the stock market means more to him than death rates, so no more attention to the daily death toll. As he resumes his mass rallies, with MAGA fans packed together, he won’t wear a mask, and neither will they. Those of us who live in hard-hit New York will watch with interest as Trump encourages his followers to ignore all precautions while he will be at least 50-100 feet from his adoring, unmasked fans. boiworship and Lucky 2 Quote
Members Buddy2 Posted June 20, 2020 Members Posted June 20, 2020 I hope the president would wear a mask in public. Very unlikely, I think. Perhaps at Halloween SoCal and Lucky 2 Quote

Members Buddy2 Posted June 20, 2020 Members Posted June 20, 2020 I audited history, politcal science and especially literature courses at the University of Pennsylvania while I worked and after retirement. The last audit was four years ago. My experience with young people was very positive. Because I did all the reading, I know/knew several students very well. Quote
Members tassojunior Posted June 21, 2020 Members Posted June 21, 2020 The rich have gotten much much richer during coronavirus. Bezos gained $60 billion and bank deposits shot up 2 trillion: U.S. bank deposits increase by $2 trillion amid the coronavirus https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/21/banks-have-grown-by-2-trillion-in-deposits-since-coronavirus-first-hit.html?__source=androidappshare Quote
Members Latbear4blk Posted June 21, 2020 Members Posted June 21, 2020 Of course the rich became richer. Actually some rich people did, specially if their business is related to the virtual economy. Others are losing a lot of money. But the increase in bank deposits does not prove that, at least you think only rich people have bank accounts. It is happening everywhere, middle class savings are going up with the pandemic. I am not rich, but as I am not expending any money I am saving much more than I used to. Buddy2 1 Quote

Expand American billionaires got $434 billion richer during the pandemic ""According to the report, the net worth of America’s billionaires grew 15% during the two-month period, to $3.382 trillion from $2.948 trillion. The biggest gains were at the top of the billionaire pyramid, with the richest five billionaires -- Bezos, Bill Gates, Zuckerberg, Warren Buffett, and Larry Ellison -- seeing combined wealth gains of $76 billion. Elon Musk had among the largest percentage gain of billionaires during the two months, seeing his net worth jump by 48% in the two months to $36 billion. Zuckerberg was close behind, seeing his wealth surge by 46% in the two months, to $80 billion. Bezos’ wealth increased by 31% to $147 billion. Bezos’ ex-wife, MacKenzie Bezos, who received Amazon shares in their divorce, also saw her wealth increase by a third, to $48 billion."" https://www.cnbc.com/2020/05/21/american-billionaires-got-434-billion-richer-during-the-pandemic.html I doubt many working class people got richer during the pandemic, especially with 20% unemployment. If anything many had to deplete what savings they had. Quote

Expand No. I know you were only speaking of yourself. I also saved up a lot with fewer expenses (and we on this board know what those expenses were ! lol). But... On the opposite end of the food chain from the billionaires, people are being kicked out of nursing homes to homeless shelters to take in coronavirus patients who bring an extra $600 a day income. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/06/21/business/nursing-homes-evictions-discharges-coronavirus.html?action=click&module=Top Stories&pgtype=Homepage The rapid income redistribution to the billionaire class has accelerated during the pandemic. Members Buddy2 Posted July 2, 2020 Members Posted July 2, 2020 Donald Trump says he looks good in a mask just after Doctor Anthony Fouci warns about the pandemic getting much worse Senator Rand Paul criticized Fouci again. This time for not providing good news. Of course, Rand Paul, like Liberty University's Jerry Falwell, Junior, wants to open up schools now (or July 6, 2020). No wonder the European Union countries have barred United States residents from entering. JKane and Latbear4blk 2 Quote
